HELP! Why are my cats pooping inside our house?

I have 6 cats(including the 3 little kittens) and they all poo and pee inside our house. My mom is getting the nerve at me because I kept pampering them all. Its just that I love cats, and they all are like my children! Sometimes I dip their faces into their feces so that they will not do it again. But it ain't helping. They still poo and pee on that area. I really have no idea about cats behavior, and haven't experienced consulting to a vet before since it costs money. So how do I keep my cats from pooping inside the house? Is it possible to train them? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi shaieen! I had the same problem as you do a couple of years ago. I had this 2 kitten from a friend. I am the only one in the family who were fond of kittens. My family were pissed every time my kittens pooed and peed inside our house. I also done putting their faces on their feces. But one solution that I discovered was that to let my kittens go outside our house for a couple of hours after they eat. There they would have the time to pee and poo. After that, my kittens would make a slight scratch on my door signalling that they were through playing and leaving their wastes outside. It was not an easy task, this requires a lot of patience and determination. Of course you will have to train the way you want them to be. Good Luck!

Hi Annrose21! I am so much enlightened with your answer. Somehow it gives me a light feeling that maybe I could do the same to my kitty's. Then maybe it would work out for me. The past days, I have tried training them during after meals and pooing was minimized. However peeing is still rampant. They pee every once in a while on that same place, especially when I am not looking at them. I hate it. I think my cats have gone very very bad already. Do you think I spoiled them that much? Should I implement Marshial Law now?

Well, nice to hear about that Shaieen! About the "pee" issue, most of my kittens were fond of drinking water or milk after they play. What I would do is that, I minimize their drinking only during meals, not that they would be dehydrated because they can always get water on their own. Also, if you have your cage on your house, put them into it, so that they can't just mess up with your things. And when you are fond of lifting and playing with them, just like me, minimize exposing them on places were they love to poo and pee, if possible play with them on the place where you want them to pee, like on their cage, or somewhere you want. Stop thinking you are spoiling them, you were a cat lover, it's not a crime! good luck!

In my house i have several times keeping and growing a kitten into a cat and the first time the kitten poop it's always inside my house, but after they grow up into a cat they always poop on the outside of the house (in my garden). I never train them to do that but i think it's a natural gesture of a cat if they want to poop they tried to find a sand/dirt. The only thing i did was when i think the kitten was quite big, i put them in the garden and not letting them inside a house for about a month. After about a month i allow them back in the house. By that time the cat is already know that if they want to poop they will go out on their own. Just make sure that your cat have access to the garden and not locked inside the house.

That what I have about cats. They poo and pee at will. Especially if there is a heap of sand, cats prefer it, and they poo and pee there. There are about 6 cats lodging in the attick of my house. I have been thinkin of asking a nearby handyman to cover the hole, through which cats enter the attick. I don't think cats can be trained. The cats in the neighbourhood love stealing our fried fish, so all doors should be closed when we are not inside the house. May I know how you like cats.?

Maybe your neighbors forgot to feed their cats, that's why it went astray and ate your foods. But I think its a cat instinct to steal foods on table. Nevertheless, I still love cats. Especially the ones with the big and cute eyes like puss n' boots. Who would not love a cat? They are huggable, they loved to sleep with you at night, they're sweet and they always love playing!

Cats can be trained, I think there's an available poo litter box that can be bought in the supermarket.

Since its not really customary for cat-owners to have litter boxes here in the Philippines, I am not sure if they are available in most pet stores. I'll try to see, but if there's none then its time to use my powers to make an alternative.

Cat is naturally a clean creature, so if u want ur cat to litter in a littering box make sure ur it always clean as possible, and make it in a quite place far from us (add some privacy to the cat too! hehe...), and make sure when ur cats about to go, put them to the littering place.

You need to get box and put some cat litter in it ASAP. Just like people, cats like to use the toilet in a comfy and clean environment .Make sure to get a durable cat box, one with a hood to help prevent litter from flying everywhere and to trap the smell in. Get litter with baking soda as this help eliminate odors, or put carpet freshener in the litter. Sift through the litter every other or more depending on the cat to cat box ratio. Dump the litter atleast once a month and all should be good. Make sure to put the cats in the litter box once you get it to help them understand they can use it.

Two cats who had been adopted were returned to me because of this problem. I watched them carefully. They each did it one time in my house. I put them into the litter box everytime they walked past it. I did it for one day. They finally understood. I have not had a problem since then.

You should use a litterbox and keep it clean as much as possible because cats hate dirt. You should encourage them to use the litterbox and i am sure that they will learn to use it very soon. Good luck
