Facebook is the "New Age" background check. Do you think it is wise to post your personal business there? Do you think that job and college recruiters are actually digging up your name on Facebook??? I think so! I asked my son to clean up his facebook page a little so as to not portray himself in a certain manner. What do you think?

I absolutely think it is extremely not wise to air your personal business. I also do agree that college recruiters and employers look at your Facebook page because it can tell a lot about you, the things you like, and the people you hang around. I personally don't have a Facebook account because I know some people that might say something they shouldn't and I wouldn't want the recruiters or employers to think I'm affiliated with them.

We should be more careful posting our personal business on any social networking sites, because every time we post about it we are most likely inviting crooks to get us and ruined our peaceful life.

if they are looking for you, they will check Facebook. so don't post anything to private. just like friends can find each other.. anyone can find you if you talk about it publicly.

Facebook always freaked me out, but I have been using it a bit more these days. It is used as a background check these days, how cool is that to have your private life infused with your career lol. I think facebook is only going to cause a lot more trouble for those with nothing better to do. Both the users and the abusers. Which is which is the question

Personally, it is not wise to post something unflattering on your Facebook profile because it is an public and online extension of the account holder's nature and personality. Facebook was meant as a tool to socialize, network online and sometimes, even used as a creative and expressive tool. People often post there because they felt that the people they are sharing their thoughts, photos and things were able to appreciate it. Due to this, I would like to second the notion that employers should not look to their prospective employees' Facebook. If they still want to, there is still the privacy option setting or deleting the account if one is very concerned of their image. Many Internet users forget that even tough we are socializing online, it is still a public place, and due to the nature of computers, everything is recorded, even the bad ones. They get too wrapped up in the security that sites like Facebook offers. It is good to be vigilant but I hope that this notion will not affect the relationships, connections or freedom of expression online.

I agree with you FB has become used even by collection companies to find people. So imagine who else is using it. Also in FB pictures speak louder than words. You never know when a friend will tag u on an inappropriate pic too.

Hi! I would say of course we need to only post something good on our facebook, since it is a community, we should behave ourself by not putting in personal business. It is easy to see someone information from facebook including your employer, so, it is not to be surprised if your boss know what you did yesterday night.
