There is little doubt as to the utility of other modes of gaining knowledge which reading provide to us. It is through reading that knowledge is derived and spread. It is a great God given boon to us. Knowledge in fact is synonymous with the choice of reading patterns. Reading carries with it a whole new aura of information essential for the development of the human self. Any substitute....NO ...NO

You're mostly right. Much knowledge is gained through reading. However, there are other ways in which we as humans can gain information. By interacting with people who have enough experience, observing our surroundings, going online, watching good TV shows like Oprah, The Talk, etc. one can also profit loads of significant information.

Knowledge is power. there are several good sites online that you could get some very indepth information from. Like wikipedia and ushistory.org and many others depending on your interest. Being online opens many doors and there is alot of knowledge to be had if you want to hunt it out.

I was born without TV and my dad took us once a week to the movie to see special programs for kids. The way to go to far away places was through books, magazines (Life) and atlas. We could also dream and some of those places were inhabitated by fairies and witches. Although now we have TV, computers and internet, I still feel that there“s something in books that nothing else gives me.
