currently my pittbull/boxer mix is finishing off my $600 couch grr. he loves to chew on anything, the coffee table, window seal, etc. but his passion is to "unstuff" things such as toys or my freaking couch!! sigh. ive decided to not replace it till i move but i really dont want to waste more money on furniture that ends up my pets next snack. what was the most expensive thing your pet destroyed? do they have a certain "taste" for certain items. did you break them from it?

I had a puppy a few years ago that would chew everything, regardless of where it was left. We shut it in the kitchen and the puppy ate through the door, which was very expensive. I think some puppies simply get more bored than others which can cause issues if you let it.

I have a pitbull/boxer mix as well and the most expensive thing that she has destroyed would have to be my mother's dentures when she was just a puppy. My mother would leave them laying around so my dog got ahold of them one time and destroyed both ends so that my mother wasn't able to put them on anymore. My mother brings it up all the time and how I owe her new teeth because my daughter messed hers up. She doesn't chew on anything that she shouldn't be chewing on anymore because she knows better and because I give her snacks for that.

I use to have a dog, many years ago, that like to destroy clothes, he always chewed any piece of cloth he could find, specially, he liked to chew the buttoms, I don´t know why. But, once, he destroyed a photo of my grandma, holding my mother in her arms, that I had in a couch, because, I wanted to take it to enlarge and restore, it was nothing in terms of money, of course, but it was something irreplacable for me. But, I didn´t get rid of him, I simply restrict the places of the house he could be. He was a Chihuahua, so, there were little danger for the furniture anyhow.

Our dog damaged my laptop when he was a puppy. He chewed on the power chord and then he damaged some of keys. I bought a new power chord, but I didn't replace the keys yet, because they are quite expensive. He has also damaged a couple of doors and broken some candlesticks that belonged to my mother-in-law, but my laptop is the most expensive thing that he has damaged. Fortunately he is not a puppy anymore and he doesn't break as many things today as he did in the past.

I have only one dog and fortunately he stays outside of our house. The only thing she could chew there are some old slippers and toys which are left by my daughters. I do love to have more dogs but I could not take care of two or more dogs because I don't have time. It is a big responsibility!
