Hello Friends :)
Just today I got two notifications of "Sending Fail" on my yahoo mail. Than I thought that I haven't sent any message these days. I checked it and found that it was message about promoting some money making site and I also found that message got sent to all people who are in my contacts !! But I never sent such message.
Some of my mylot friends should also got this message from me.. So just ignore it. I am not promoting it.
Now... What should be reason for this?? Is this like my account got hack ?? I also changed my password after this... One friend told me that it can happened because of some face book app that I allowed on my facebook account.. But I haven't added single app since 6 months! I have heard about this but isn't it like those app can only send message on our email address.. They can even send message from our mailing address too..
I don't know what was the reason.. But still I deleted all app from my fb account as I am not even using them. And also changed my mail password. I hope in future this will not be repeated.
What you think about it? And do you know how can I prevent it?

hi akp the person sending those is a scammer who got into one of your friends co mputer with a virus and is now using their address book and the names i n it to send out their virus laden crap. so delete and warn your friends to check for virus as one of your friends as a nasty probably trojan horwse virus and the scammer is using their address book to send out phony emaikls pro porting to be from all their friends,It happened to me twice and no it was not in my computer nor was I hacked. it was in a close friends c omputer and she had an awful time getting rid of the virus. so ask all your friends to check their computers as one of them has this awful virus. When you find stuff like this again just delete but also warn your friends one of them has the virus on their computer.you will not have it as you are just the unwitting victime of this scammer.it will not be on your own computer. I have this happen sev eral times and it was not on my own computer but on a close friends.

Thank you miss Hatley for emphasizing on this point. I read about it in the article someone supplied here yet overlooked it. Now I'll remember to alert all my friends if ever it happens with me. Hopefully apk is going to do the same...
I would ask for some more info: did your friend had the same problem as you, i.e. was she also accused of spamming others? If so, it would be faster to identify the compromised account: it will be having its own problems.
Thanks again.

HI Hatley..
I guess this is the problem in my case too.. Hope so. Because I have just purchased a new laptop before 15 days.. So I don't think so there is problem of virus or else because I never got such problem within past 7 years with my old laptop.
I have even anti keylogger and anti virus software on my system.
Thanks for the good information.
I look like problem is this. This problem hasn't repeated yet. Hope this will be not repeated... Thanks for giving some relaxation words..

I read through all the responses before replying here and seems I can't give any advice. Still, in my opinion changing your security questions as well is a good idea...
Sometimes networking sites ask you to 'import contacts' from your email account so you can see 'who has also joined' this site. I refrain from doing so, for I am way too private person. You have to give your user-id and password for the same. And that's not secure.
It could be a possibility in your case, though I have reasons to believe otherwise.
I am now checking how to track IP in yahoo. It's lot easier to understand in Gmail...

Hello AKP,
I'm afraid I don't have good news for you.
I remember a friend of mine had the same problem a few month ago and he didn't receive good news either.
Here's the discussion he started on the same issue: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2570379.aspx
I remember I did some research back then and here's the article with the possible solution to your problem: http://ask-leo.com/someones_sending_from_my_email_address_how_do_i_stop_them.html
I hope you will find the answers to your problem inside this article.

Hi inu...
Those are really good articles...
I read those.. And found that in those cases those viruses send too many spam messages to contact address... but in my case only one mail got send to my contacts... So far no other message got send.. I immediate changed my password when I found this thing.. I guess this will solve the problem.. Lets see.

Hi akp,
Some where in some site you had shared your email and also password , or there is a possiblity you may use same password for signin different site. so they easily get your pass word.
Only remedy is quickly change your password ASAP.
Hope you will get out it very soon.

Hope so.. Its happened only one time ..
I never share my email password with anyone. And also I used to keep different password for important sites like mails and other important site.. so there is no chance of it.. but any way I already changed my password, and hope there will be no problem in future.

I had my account like that too. What I did was changed my password into a much complicated one, like having Uppercases, symbols and words not in the dictionary. I think it was hacked or some internet virus that crawl into mail accounts(especially Yahoo!).

There couple possibility for that and this is my opinion.
You use a same password for your email and facebook. So when you use an applications like networkedblog, they will stole both of it.
And or you use a same password for your email and other site that you have joined.
Never use a same password for your email password and other site, even the Paypal.
