Sam Champion of ABC Good Morning America apparently knows all

As much as I feel for the injuries and property loss from the recent tornado in N. Carolina, Sam Champion using descriptions like never and ever for the occurrence of a tornado there irks me. So he apparently knows the entire 4 billion year history of the Earth in that area. You may say I'm being petty or picky with this criticism but it is one of my pet peeves when weather people or news people say such things instead of the correct "on record" they should say. Also, Sam what is with calling it Chicago land and not Chicago? You don't say Miami land or Denver land or Seattle land, etc.

He might just feel to much stress being on television in front of so many people. I wouldn't want his job, as to much stress for me. No amount of money would be enough to be on a big network show.

Yep, I have to agree, those kinds of statements make me wonder if they have any true intelligence. But I do know when you are live on spot, picking the correct terminology is something that your brain just might not be ready to do. I think some of the comments are meant to be funny and they really come off lame. Just shows a weatherman should never try to be a comedian either. Improper terminology is truly a pet peeve of mine. But like them, I'm guilty of it too at times. In fact the older I get the worse my brain functions and I loose the word I want to use all the time. I used to do it only under stress, but now days, doesn't even take stress. I love the ones that report and leave information out, errors of omission. But in the long run, I wouldn't want their jobs. Over and out from Denver land!!!

Sam is still young and has a lot of experience so he shouldn't be having the problems you described which I also share; that is sometimes I just can't come up with the word I want. However, in my own defense I have always been a shy person while Sam is very much an extrovert. Another pet peeve I have and have had for a long time is when "real" is used when the proper usage would be "really." I have a local morning weather man who does it all the time, often many times in one weather segment. What makes it worse is his wife is a school teacher. If it weren't for the news people on the show who I like very much, I would change to another local station because of it. The news people by the way never make the mistake.
