I have been asked many times what is the best show on television and that really isn't an easy question. First the definition of best is up to each of us and are we talking about best all around show or best for a season. I know there are many shows I would recommend that people view at least once. Recently, I covered my favorite shows; however, I think many people would say they aren't the best when you start looking at some of the older shows. Many would have to say look at several very long running shows. I watched a lot of Mash and Gunsmoke both won awards. We would also have to look at those long running soap operas that have aired for longer, then many people reading this post. I would like everyone to post at least one show we should all consider watching or going to find old episodes of the show to check it out. I'm going to suggest members check out Mash, if you haven't watched it. It might not be the best show, but the casting were all excellent actors.

I would definitely recommend FRIENDS. It's one of the best shows, at least in my opinion. All six of the leads are capable actors and actresses, and moreover, the show has brilliant writing. The storyline was also excellent, as we saw how the main characters changed over the course of ten years. FRIENDS was well before my time as it aired from 1994-2004, but I recommend it to everyone who loves watching TV series. It's definitely one of a kind, and no show can hold a candle to it.

Although the last few seasons lost my viewership, I agree. It was absolutely hilarious.

I watched Friends for many seasons and agree the actors all were great choices for the roles. The actors were smart to stick together and each made good money during the years the show aired. That was really smart! We can tell just how good, as each has lived a very successful life after the show ended new episodes. Thanks for the replies.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E., especially the first and second seasons. Fun stories, lovely scenery (actors), good pacing.

I have watched both seasons several times and agree the first 2 seasons were well done. My husband enjoys them also. We have them on DVD and hope others check them out. Thanks for the reply.

Who is your favorite Doctor? I'm aware that there are so many that its hard to pick one. Dr Who is one of my husbands favorite shows. He showed me an episode of Tom Baker back in the early 1970's and then I had to see earlier Dr Who's. Excellent pick and certainly one with a big fan base.

I kind of compare Mash to elevator music .... just playing in the background. But it was a great cast. Actually the shows that I can keep watching over and over is 21 Jump Street and the old western, Big Valley. That's just my POV.

I loved Big Valley. Brings back great memories of family time and a slower moving time in my life. Now I try to do so much in one day. Thanks for the reply.

MASH is one of my dad's favorite shows, and my sister really likes it as well. I guess I'd go with Scarecrow and Mrs. King. I really like it, and although it's not my favorite it has humor, action, and a bit of drama. So I guess I'd go with that one.
