What if another mylot member use the same avatar as you? I know most members by their avatar than their username so surely I'll get confused sometimes if another member uses the same avatar as the other. For me it's easier to remember a member's avatar than a member's name(I don't know why). Can you recognize a mylot member through his avatar or through his name?

Hi Jacruz! It's the same for me. I easily remember a myLotter through his or her avatar. Only after sometime will I be able to recognize a myLotter through his or her username. At some point, I would even associate the avatar to the username and vice versa. That's why when a myLotter changes his or her avatar, I tend to get confused. Anyway, I wish no one would ever use the same avatar as mine! I would hate to replace mine. It's been my avatar for a long, long time.

I usually reconize a mylotter by associating the name with the avatar. Luckly for me i doubt anyone will have the same avatar because it was my brother that put it together on photoshop.

I usually look at the avatars first and if I don't recognize the avatar I look at the name. I have been here for a long time and there are a lot of avatars that I recognize when I see them (epecially members who keep the same avatar for a long time) Of course there are also a many avatars that I don't recognize and in those cases I look at the usernames instead. It wouldn't borther me if someone used the same as avatar as me, but it would probably be a bit confusing as I use the avatar when I identify my own responses. On another discussion forum someone once used the same avatar as me, and I found a response about soccer. I thought: "What? I don't remember writing anything about soccer. Did I really write that?" But I didn't suffer from memory loss, it was just another member who used the same avatar as me

Given that some people tend to change avatars a lot of the time, I don't really put all that much of an emotional investment into remembering what an avatar looks like. Granted some people tend to rather rather memorable avatars, but I'll say this right now. I'm more likely to remember people by the kinds of topics they seem to post then their avatars or in some cases even their names. With some exceptions. Law of averages does in fact state that there is always a chance that two people might have the same avatar unless it is a rather personal picture. And let's face it, there are times where I recognize people by avatars, by names, and by posts. Granted, it is those posters who keep drawing me in with discussions that interest me that I recognize the most.

My avatar is Yokimo Readman of Read or Die. I've been using her picture for the past 7 years of my online existence. If I see somebody who uses the same picture, I would definitely not be happy. But of course, I can't do anything about it. I will not replace my picture still. As for your question, I think I remember someone more by his or her username. I've seen profiles here in mylot who have changed avatar but I can still recognize them because of the names. Some people like to change picture based on the season which I think is fun. Just to be updated!

I actually rely on the combination of the two, an avatar and the username. Some usernames aren't easy to recall especially those I think are acronyms or something. So I have to relate that name to an avatar. I think an avatar is helpful since it's easier to retrieve images or pictures from our brain than just letters and numbers. Although if the username is catchy and unique, I wouldn't need an avatar to remember who that person is.

The image. It's always the image. I can remember images more than texts or numbers. But if I am not sure of the person, I can determine if the name and the image fits in my memory box and know for certain whether I know the user or not. lol

I think for me it's both the image and the names. Sometimes I don't know their names but I recognizes the pictures but sometimes vice versa. So both are important.

I usually remember our fellow mylot friend by their names not their avatar and it's hard for me to remember avatar and as yu said what if other had the same avatar,so the only way to remember them is their user name.I know or remember some of our lotters here by their user names too.

I remember mylot members by their user names. I know that a mylot member can change his/her avatar any time he wishes to, just like me who would often change according to my mood. Besides when you are a newbie, there's a common avatar, unless they change it right away.

Some members here changes their avatar often so if we don't know their names, we won't know that we have interacted with them before. For me, it's much easier to remember names rather than avatar, since you said anyone can use the same avatar (except the real photo of the person)

i recognize people through their name. avatar is just for giving an identity to the name. people loves to be identified by their name. anyway i love that.
