this should match?

I found a light trendy cardigan like sweater that's cut on an angle so it's longer in the front. However, it's a 2 toned sweater it's a light gray on top and a medium gray on the bottom. Would pairing it with a white tee under and a pair of black pants look ok? I do have a pair of grey pants but they are on a different hue of grey all togeather and I think would look really funny. I know it would look best with a pair of jeans and a white tee but I wanted to wear this for work. So I'm thinking black pants should be ok?

I would avoid mixing three different shades of gray and go for the black pants. It sounds like you made a good purchase with the cardigan since you said it would go well with jeans as well. It is always good to have a few interchangeable pieces in your wardrobe.

I try to have as much interchangeable things as I can. You learn especially after having lil girls you know the sets that match nothing else are a great buy til one of them is trashed and goes with nothing else.

I think you are right, for work it should be the black pants. Grays can have shades of brown or blue in them so it is hard to co ordinate too many shades of grays.

The grey pants I have were too different in coloring and texture than the sweater. It's too obvious in this instance they are not the same color.

I agree with the first person - white and black are so neutral colors that it should work. I wouldn't try to mix any kind of prints or too bright of colors with this sweater just because the sweater is already pretty colorful itself (so it sounds like anyway). I think that should be fine if the greys don't match.

I think with black and white fits everything. Grey is a colour in between it so that should fit too. It depends on the kind of clothes (design) if it looks great but nowadays I got the feeling everything is allowed to wear.
Also.. if you feel great in it you will look great. Black pants must look great.

Black goes with everything. White goes with everything. What you've described here sounds perfect. Blue jeans tend to go with everything as well (ie navy blue). I am no way a fashion guru; I always ask my 18yo if something matches, but I do know that black and white are neutral colours that go with everything.

Black pants are perfect for any color! But rather than a white shirt, why not add a bit of color with a blue or green shirt? Your original idea will look conservative, acceptable and dignified but wearing a colored shirt will give it some pizazz. If you still want white/grey/black a colorful scarf will really pull the look together. Don't be dull!

Sure, why not? That color should go good with just about anything.

Yes, i think that this combination with black pants is far more better that the grey ones and it gives a beautiful opposition. Black suits with every colour and white too and grey is a colour made of black and white so suits perfectly well. If you wear black or white or grey shoes with a bag /purse of the same colour it is perfect.
