@ Zaahro, We are both have no skills. I do have an account on odesk too and the employer decline my job application three times. I do not have any skill and I do not have any work experience so I gave up. I knew about Adobe Photoshop, but I am not that professional though I train graphic design only in 1 month. It is just only a vocational course and still, I am not expert and I am easily discourage if ever there are many professional graphic design who are better than me -- and of course, they are veteran graphic designer.

I am member of odesk but not applied for any job. When i started freelancing, i joined Getafreelancer ( now freelancer.com). I bid on one project that's about promoting a website on internet and get sign ups from Professionals specially software professionals. I know about social media promotion and the project owner was kind enough, taught me different ways of promoting websites aside from social media promotion. Later he hired me for different projects.I earned a handsome amount from that guy.

Congratulations! Now you could earn a decent income online by working hard. You can work it like an offline job and it is free. I really want to work on odesk but I rather choose other work online. It is not that I do not like odesk, it is just I knew that it is difficult to be hired by the employer. There are also lots of competition on odesk -- expertise vs an amateur or non working experience is I guess the one who always getting the job is the expertise on the work field

Congrats! I have been working and earning on Odesk for a few weeks now. Just today, I ALMOST got $15 in 5 minutes! But I was a few minutes too late to apply for a one time job which is just to troubleshoot a virus infected computer. Anyway, I am still hunting for some other small jobs aside from the regular job I have on Odesk. Good luck to us!

Well, glad to hear that you can maximize your online job through Odesk... I have an Odesk account, but still I haven't completed the information there yet. Maybe if I'm more careful and have more time, I'll be more active in Odesk...

that's good for you. congrats. i've been a member for some time too but i too haven't been able to get any jobs as i don't have any special skills as well. i don't have any experience in any areas but am willing to learn the simple jobs. i especially prefer typing out documents but well there are others better than me. it also doesn't help that i don't have much idea on how to write a good cover letter. i'm trying not to lose hope and still applying there. hopefully, someone will be willing to hire a new worker without experience and be willing to go through the ropes with me. congrats once again.

Take the tests / exams, then apply for small paying jobs at first. Make sure yo pass the tests in flying colors and include in your cover letter to check your test results! There are many more ways, but those are the basics. Improve your ratings then you can apply for higher paying jobs after that.

congrats!! many members of mylot have already shared in different discussions how great this site is and your experience is another one the list that proves that it is really a good site..I tried joining this site before just to get a view of what it really is but I don't like the applying or bidding part of it..I have the impression that it is really hard to be chosen by the employer if you are a new member, but if one is really patient and will keep on bidding in many jobs I think it's a great way to earn money online.

For sure you know more about this site than I do because I didn't continue using it after I learned about the bidding part of the site..but I think I didn't say lose all the bids as fast as you can in jobs that are not worth bidding of course you still need to choose the jobs that you think you are qualified and capable of accomplishing. And losing all your bids in 15 days and getting no order and losing all your bids in 30 days and getting no order doesn't have any difference.

I am also new in there but one thing I know that it's not about keep on bidding.. This way you will loose all your bids(maximum is 15 a month in the beginning).. The main thing is to bid correctly so that every bid matters.. If you loose all your bids within 15 days and get no order then what's the point of bidding!!

Today I sent my first job application in O-Desk and one thing that I learnt that how important it is to write a good and brief cover letter. A cover letter is the first and last chance for creating an impression and hence it needs to be very unique.. I wrote a good cover letter and sent my application.. Now god helps....

After reading some responds on this discussion I figured out that some people don't know what odesk is all about , so I found some usefull information from the website itself : you can read about testimonials success stories from odesk users (contractors , companies , odesk people ) and you can also read the Headlines to get the impression of what kind of jobs you can do. www.odesk.com/info/testimonials Well , I guess you are a lucky guy to get hired if you have no experience or skill , but , can you really get the job done ? What will happen if you can't do it ? will it hurt your reputation on the website ? Another thing to think about is not the money but the experience for handeling jobs from real people. Is there any way to get tasks before you get hired so one can see wether he can do the job or try to do it ? I still think we need to know more about the website and it's users , how one can start getting tasks and so on...

Congrats, YOUR PROFILE NAME ITSELF INDICATES THAT YOU ARE LUCKY. I have been on odesk long back,i got fed up bidding for several projects.I was not offered any jobs.May be i was not tricky like you.I was also into freelance, but same was the situation there too.So i quit both of them.I have some skills but feel that being a new freelancer i am not able to get selected for any of the projects,i quoted.May be i have to use some techniques to get selected as u said.U can guide us in this aspect.Happy mylotting!
