Do you think it odd to watch movie alone?

watch movie - watch movie alone

Lately my husband has a cinema ticket for free. We are not going to buy one more ticket, so namely one of us may watch the movie alone. I personally don't like it since I feel embarrassed to watch it alone in the cinema. Usually people will not watch a movie alone. Watching it by myself is quite strange for me. What do you think?

I prefer to go to the movies by myself, I guess I use the movies as a place to get away, when I feel I need to just get away from people I hide away in a dark theatre and get involved in the movie, when you go by yourself you don't have people talking to you which I hate....its ok to go to the movies alone its restaurants I hate going to alone...

Agreed on going to restaurants alone. If I ever eat out alone I get it to go

I am fine with it.. Sometimes you will find that watching alone is much better than having someone to accompany you. While at other time yo will find it is better to have someone to watch together with you so that you can share ideas while watching-happened so many times when I watched movies wit my sister. When you watch alone you will focus and concentrate more to the movie while if you go with others you tend to talk with them while watching which may annoyed you and others a bit.(^^)

It is not you 'have to' you will do it without you aware of it~(^^) You don't have others to talk with you so you will focus to the movie alone~(^^)

Movie star? - No, no, it's just me many years ago...I played around with the effects to get this letter-box look..cool huh.
I don't think it's strange, but I do think it could be rather depressing. I used to do this a lot myself; in fact I think I did it on and off for about 8 years; and then I stopped, because I was finding the experience dismal, even though at first I'd enjoyed it. Personally I don't think there's a movie that's been made that warrants (say) two hours of a person's quality time...if it's a social experience that's different...then you are sharing the movie, and you can talk about it afterwards and so on. Don't get me wrong, I love the cinema, and will still watch a movie alone...but not in a cinema...I mean, at the end of the day, with something to eat, when I haven't the energy for something more creative. Then I'll watch a movie alone on my TV or computer, but then usually only part of a movie. But watching a movie alone in a cinema would only cast me down...no movie's that good that I'd find the experience in any way fulfilling: I am too creative. I like to do rather than watch. However...after a long (hopefully productive) day...it's great fun to chill out in front of a movie, and yes, alone...why not.

I go to movies by myself all the time. At first it used to bother me but not anymore. It gives me a nice time away from stress and strain. I think if you do it a few times you will get used to it. Or, I would buy another ticket. Atleast you only have to buy the one.

Women usually go to movies with friends, relatives or co-workers and they really don't prefer to go to such public place alone. There could be some reasons for this behavior, one could be that women fell more secure when they go to a movie with a friend or with company. Watching a movie for them alone is like walking in a dark side street alone wherein your safety is compromised. The other reason could be that women will enjoy the movie much better with their friends, they love to talk about the movie while inside the theater and share their feelings about what they see. men on the other point is more inclined to watch a movie alone, maybe to be able to meet some ladies inside the theater, or to just relax and be entertained.

Most of the films I have seen in the theater I saw alone. I'm not like my dad, My mom told me if my dad wanted to see a film but my mom didn't , he wouldn't go alone. I'm the complete opposite. It is rare for me to find a film I want to see so when I find one , I just go . In fact I went to the movie where I was the only person in the theater! It was a mid afternoon showing and I was all alone!

Hi youless! I don't find it strange to watch a movie alone. I have watched a movie all by myself and I enjoyed it nonetheless. While it's true that it's more enjoyable to watch a movie when you're with someone, I also find it nice to watch a movie alone. I don't mind other people, or whatever they think of me if they are really minding me, as long as I'm enjoying, I don't care. And I don't think people would even notice you if you're alone in a moviehouse because they will be too busy with how they will enjoy themselves.

There was one of this times wherein I did not have someone to go with. My relatives and family members were busy and my friends did not have the extra money to do so. It was just the time when I was craving for some relaxation so I decided that I would watch myself... Gosh, it was horrible. I was sitting there alone with all that sealed emotions unable to talk to someone about the movie but the good part is that, I was able to spend less without snacks because I never watch a movie without snacks if I were not alone. Also, I prefer to watch with someone who also talks during the movie so we could share opinions during its course.

Yes, people will pay attention. Me and my friends do mock people quietly if they watch alone but not to the point that they might hear. But in situations like this, I rather you enjoy the show than actually think of what people think of you. You are already inside which means you have paid, will not it be a waste if you would not savor it?

I don't mind watching movies a lone at all. I know though that a lot of people do. My mom for example always thought it was strange that I didn't mind watching movies by myself. I like good movies and a lot of the time if it is something that I really want to see then I enjoy no matter if I'm by myself. One time my husband wanted to see something and that we had already seen but because he liked it so much he wanted to see it again. But I wanted to watch something else so he watched the movie again and I watched something else.

I know that is what my mom would probably say. But it doesn't bother me. I haven't watched a movie alone for a few years now but I would watch one if the opportunity presented itself. So is your husband going to watch the movie by himself?

well, i have a watched a movie in the cinema all by myself three times in the past, at first i was kind of hesitant to do it but then i tried it..it is normal that we feel strange a bit for the first time, especially if we look around us almost everyone are with somebody and we are alone but after doing it again..we can feel comfortable already..

we cannot really see and be sure if some people were alone also in there but also one of my friends said she watched a movie in the cinema alone..so that gave me the idea, what if i also try it myself..because before i was not comfortable doing it to go by myself...

There isn't anything wrong with going to the movies alone. It would be uncomfortable if the theater is in an area that is not that great. It is always nicer to go with someone. You sit together, share popcorn and can hold hands if it is your better half. Friends together is fun too, you get to go out and have some laughs together. If I were you and want to see this movie, just save and get another ticket and join your husband for a night out and a nice movie to enjoy together. Have fun!

Only losers, nerds, and virgins go to theater alone obviously. Lol..just kidding - I go alone most of the time. It's no big deal.If one watches movies by themselves at home or eats at home by themselves, then there is no big deal going to theater or restaurant by themselves.
