The preview show was on last night, I started it, but fell asleep! I saw one island, two tribes and their hopes for more personal drama from that. I saw where there is no Redemption Island, but still hidden Immunity Idols..and if one team finds the other teams idol, they have to choose someone to give it to. Their theory of this way is to see about getting two alliances, one with "your" team and one with opposing team..again...more personal drama! I saw they had a dwarf man on the one team...I think they said it was women vs. men as far as team split goes. THey intereviewed a few before I fell asleep...and there was another "cochran" in that "I've been watching it since day 1 etc...." and one "hey, yeah, I'm open to any romance to be had" and another one that flat out admitted.."I'll lie to their face, and then stab them in the back". So it sounded like alot of anger and hatred already there...and it hasn't even started! It starts Feb 15. Are you going to watch? Do you have any thoughts about it if you saw the preview show? At least there are no return players and although RI was nice...not gonna miss it any. But I sure hope they don't edit out everything but the violent attitudes, the hate and the meaness of everyone. I'll watch, but at the moment, I am not that anxious for it! Sad, but true. I have been watching since the middle of the first season too....some were good, but these more current ones...theyjust focus so much on the anger, the meanness and the fighting and bickering, sometimes it just wasn't that enjoyable... What say you?

I haven't seen the preview yet. I wish I had though. But I must say, I am now even more eagerly excited about the upcoming Survivor season. Thanks for posting and sharing this here. I will be sure to tell my hubby and nanny about it. Like me, they too are die-hard Survivor fanatics. I will admit, and I think that it is obvious by now, that the show is one of my guilty pleasures. The bickering and meanness that go on are just a a part of the show. I believe it necessary to the show especially if you think of the show's tagline: Outwit, Outlast, Outplay. Players are expected to know this. So are the viewers. The producers have been consistent about this theme from the very start. Nothing has changed. They didn't present this show to be about morals and about championing of the human race. But I admit that there have been some (though very few and far between) of those too. The preview is just that...a preview. I know and believe that there is more to the show than just anger and meanness. That's why we always end up having "Favorites" and characters we dub as "Villains". I think the producers blatantly chose those scenes for the preview for the exact purpose of keeping people intrigued and fans like me excited about the new season. Just my 2 cents.

I thought last night's Survivor premiere was kind of boring. I think this season has some potential though!

I like it okay, just get tired of the bickering and fighting over nothing! Cat fights with the women etc...and it isn't just this show...it is most reality shows. I dont' watch it much, but have you seen Bachelor? No one is there for love...they never marry...the women just fight and fight and display that they aren't there for the love, they are there for the money and to be on tv etc. I know the shows aren't about morals and all...but in survivors case..it is about living in the wilderness with nothing, and out wit...that just means doing better than others, not who can bicker the best! And out play means they play the games and challenges best and out last...well that is theonly one that deems to the show these days...no way can you make me believe Sofie or many of the past winners won cause they did anything other than "out last"...float by on coat tails etc. But it is still a good show... I just wish they'd show some of the "good" parts from time to time instead of making the players look like nothing but a bunch of hateful, snotty, fighters looking for a ring to play in!

I am so ready with the new season,no returning players and I hope the gender split will make the women less under the radar, I hope the tribes wont switch but every gender battle season have switches. I hope that there will be a balance with the editing, CBS needs to stop shoving 2 people in our throats. I want to see multiple characters. I know the season hasnt started yet but I hope after this season we finally have a fresh location. Back to the topic. I want to make a first impressions thread and a spoilers thread, but I am afraid no one will respond.

Yeah...no returns and no one pushed at us, yes that is good this time! And women seperate, although there won't be any hanky panky going on... you know they "encourage" women to cat fight so I am sure we will be innodated with that! But wait...they are all on the same beach...so maybe there is hanky panky! Thread all you want. If I watch, I'll respond! I am just getting tired of it all being bickering and fighting and arguing. I just can't "survive" that! I'll loose the million dollars!!!!!

You betcha...coffeebreak, I will be watching! I truly do enjoy all of survivor, no matter what nuances are thrown at us! I think it is the inner me, just wanting to be in one of those places and challenging myself! I don't think I would last long tho...as I would be the one, always wandering to explore the beauty of the settings...the intrigue of the land or sea! Yes..I will take Survivor, anytime, over the opulance of "Dancing with the Stars!" I think with me, it is the being transported to somewhere that is on my "bucket list" but I'll never get to...and why most of my T.V. viewing is Oasis or National Geographic! Looking forward to this season!

Thinking more about this discussion...I came face to face with the truth...and YES, Survivor is something I will continue to watch, and now I know why....even tho' there is a great deal of dissention (and they are focusing more on it)----it is still ONE of the few shows I can watch, submerse myself in...and KNOW I will NOT be startled back to reality...by GUNFIRE..or BAD language..VIOLENCE! So..I guess that is why Survivor still gets my vote!

Don't you ever think..dear soul, that I would take the priviledge of labelling you..a prude or anything! More than likely, I would enjoy happily, watching T.V., with you! As we seem both to still be uncomfortable with the LACK of clothing..the language..and the violence! I see all of that, far too much, in my everyday world...and the commonality of swear words really hurts my ears! My son is now 31 and if any of his associates use disparaging words (swear) in my household..or the conversation gets a bit tacky...he takes them outside first for a talk...and if that doesn't work, they are banished! I don't have a lot of time to watch T.V., and when I do...I don't wish my eyes or ears offended! I must admit, tho...I liked Survivor a whole lot better when the folks were a bit more common...NOT such pretty people..LOL!

I felt like that at first. Seeing all those beautiful places that I know I'll never see..the landscape, the animals the waters, sunsets etc. It was so beautiful. However...about 5-6 seasons ago, they stopped showing so much of that and more of hte arguing and bickering and fighting. They also stopped showing how the "lived" on the beach and how they caught food and did the daily camp things. I liked watching that too..see how much common sense they had to make that place liveable and all. It was similar with Dancing w/the Stars...at first it was about the dancing. Then it got to be about WHO was dancing. Didn't matter if htey were bad or not as good as others..it was WHO they were that the people voted for. LIke last time...Chaz...come on..there is no way anyone could say he danced as well as the others simply and obviously due to his weight. That heavy a person can't do what the thinner ones can do, same as the older ones can't usually do what the younger ones can. IT just got to be to much about who was dancing and not how the dancing was going or allowance for age// Oh well, tho, I'll checkout survivor. I didn't think last season was going to be good cuase they brought back 2 players AGAIN!!!! But it turned out to be pretty good!

I know the meanness, anger, bickering, and back stabbing exist, but mostly the show is edited to show all that. Presumably it continues to work, although I think recent seasons have had fewer viewers. Last season I hardly watched. This season I'm hoping there's something really good on TV opposite Survivor to give me a good option. I turn the TV off a lot these days. There's just not much worth spending my time on. Survivor is getting old. Give me The Amazing Race!

Hi my52Cents..long time no hear! But I know what you mean. THere isn't much on tv these days. Frankly, Survivor, Dancing with the Stars are really the only ones I watch on regular tv. And the Food channel and history and TLC on cable. If nothing there...I do other things. TV is junk anymore! But yeah, survivor has been lagging in recent years. One before this last one, I hardly watched at all. I know they edit out all the stuff I'd like to see and leave all the bickering and fighting. Funny the first couple of times, but as the entire dialog? I don't think so! I usually don't even remember names or get into it that much until the merge and then from there...down to about the last 6-7 is when it starts to get "good" as far as I'm concerned. Not as many fights! But we'll see this season. Two tribes, one beach, men vs women... I don't watch any other ones. I used to watch Next Food Network Star but they just got to weird and contestants were just not even watchable and then THEY started the fighting and bickering! Cake Boss used to be good, but they have the fighting and anger going on now, I don't even watch it! Cupcake Wars...the last man standing! They don't interact with each other so there's no fighting or bickering!

I missed the last season of Survivor but I am hoping to catch this one. I did miss the preview but I imagine it is going to be the same as in the past seasons. There will always be a back stabber and of course there has to be a showmance thrown in there to get the viewers interested. I will decide if it is worthy of watching the entire season.

I hope this time around, the puppet master is a woman. She doesnt need to win, I just want to see a woman who can dominate the game and control everything. But Stealth is always the best way for women to play this game. I really dont know but I was never interested with male contestants. I am so sick that most women get low face time over a Male leader material.

I say I DVR'd it the other day and watched it the next late afternoon, and nothing actually impressed me. It has just started though still. There is none of them I'm staying behind as far as a fave, just yet. I think they are starting to get past their prime and although I'm glad that the RI and the previous contestants are none to be seen this Season, I wonder if this Season's show is anything better than any previous season. I'm thinking it's losing it;s appeal. I will still watch and see though. I think the little person has alot of strength behind him and might go far. I do prefer the teams to be mixed as we all know the men will win over the women due to their lack of knowledge on how to start a fire, etc. I mean, how will you not learn how to start a fire when you're going on a a show like that? It baffles the mind.
