Ecofelt, have you ever used it? Do you know what it is? Have you heard of it

before? If you have used it, what craft projects did you use it for? If you haven't, what ideas come to mind? Ecofelt is felt made from recycled plastic bottles. It's challenging because you need really good scissors, glue that works on acrylics, and needles and thread that will go through it. It doesn't seems to be low-priced per sheet. If the project is small, you can get many out of a single sheet. It washes well in cold water (I just washed some). It dried on a cool cycle. But don't put it near anywhere you would not put a bottle. Stove, oven, oil lamp, candle, hot wall, etc. NOT a good thing for children's bedclothes or clothes for that matter period. So far, I've just used green. I used two colors of green to make a turtle for a friend. I also cut a Christmas tree out for someone. I find it to be a little slippery. I like to glue pieces together, wait for it to dry completely (over night) and tack it (single stitch) the next day. The right glue works well. So if you've used it, what would you use it for? If you haven't, what might you use it for? I know wool felt is better and nicer for many things, esp. for clothes. But for small crafts like a bookmark, the hang on the wall to cover a spot that needs to be worked on, it is fun.

I have not heard of this material before. I guess I will have to search about it. Is it like those foam things that you make kid crafts out of, or is it actual fiber?

It's a square of felt like acrylic felt only recycled. I got mine at Michaels, not sure if you have one in your area.

Never have heard of it but it sounds great for the environment. If I were to use it, I would use it for the bookmarks and little stuff that you mentioned. This lady here has come up with an idea about those plastic store bags. She actually uses them to weave doormats. I was skeptical when I first heard about it but when I saw them, they were really neat..lol.

I've seen some table top doilies made with plastic bags, those come out great. I've seen rain jackets made with them and handbags. I'll have to check out the door mat thing.

Yeah, the rain jackets are made way different from the rest of that stuff. Remember, I'm always looking up ways to recycle things. So I revisit a lot of stuff like that.

Our Michaels has it. That's where I got it from. I was looking for felt. I turned a piece over and it had ecofelt and an explanation as well as care on it. Let us know if a place in Canada carries it. You have a Michaels in Canada? I see lots of Canadians at ours so thought maybe you didn't have one there.

yup we have them here but most likely stuff is cheaper in the US than here. i live about an hour away from the border and i know lots of people that cross border shop in places like Buffalo, ny and Amherst.
