Today I began the day listening to Janis Joplin and Bob Dylan. Then came my dranddaughter (finally!!!) to teach me how to download movies. She did some swift movements I did not learn and then asked me which movie did I want first. I remembered that it had been ages since I last saw "Zorba the Greek". She looked at me as if I was mad. We first downloaded the music and the was amazed that that music was one she knew and loved
. I remembered when another one of my grandkids told me that he was interested in Ray Charles´ music. He´s from MY time, I had said.
Kids love the music I loved but don´t know how old it is.
Do you get into retro moods once in a while? What songs or movies do you seek then? Share!

I notice that a lot of today's kids do enjoy the same types of music I used to listen to when I was their age but they prefer the remakes to the original artists. It is interesting that music goes in cycles like that but good things tend to last. My favorites are from 70s-80s I think with a smattering of newer and older music as well...

Since my mom was a big Elvis fan, I did like a lot of his music as well. She was born in '30. She did like a lot of the music I grew up with but older stuff as well. I still play that BeeGees song you sent with the video a while back. I think maybe that is why my outlook on life has improved since that time...and the kitty as well...Have a great week!!!

That`s because you are a gal far younger than me, Deb
. But I still love some music from later times than Elvis, my love. I love the BeeGees, and I still remember some songs my daughters heard when they were little. Then there are the singers that trascended time, like Ray Charles.

Hi marguicha..
I am always on a retro mood. I mean my complete music collection is old songs... classical, melodies, sentimental and indian gajals. When i travel through my daily train, some old people come and sit near me when i play my cell phone on a low voice and try to lessen the boredom of journey,
Have a nice time,

I feel that music is very much part of our lives. We have some music asociated to years of our lives, to feelings when we were young. I love music from the classic music my father listened to in his record player to some of the music that my children loved when they were teens. I have also developped a taste for ethnic music from my part of the world.

This is something that I go through from time to time. The more retro stuff isn't something that was music from my time, but it is something that I listened to a lot when I was growing up because of my parents and I do have times that I want to listen to that stuff again.
As far as movies go, however, I find that a lot of the movies that I really want to watch are the movies that I remember from when I was a lot younger.

I used to love listening to the classic oldie songs w/ my Mom & Aunt. We would turn on the radio & record songs from the classic oldies radio station. They would have all my Mom's favorites who through her soon became my favorites as well, such as: Ray Charles, Connie Frances, The Temptations, The Supremes, Elvis Presley, Aba, The Beach Boys, Chuck Berry....I could go on & on. We would all sit around the radio & sing along w/ all our favorite songs. Sometimes we would dance too, do the Twist etc. etc...LOL Unfortunately I can no longer listen to this type of music. My Aunt & my Mom passed away within a couple of years of each other, so now it's just too painful to listen to it, but I will always have my memories of what fun we used to have while listening to them.
