I think I am addicted to Siomai lately, I want to eat more than once a day but since I cannot spend money eating siomai only, I just eat it few times a month. Siomai House is the best siomai for me so far. I've tasted siomai from Chowking and Master Siomai but nothing beats Siomai HOuse for me. By the way I'm not happy eating Master Siomai, it feels like eating a siomai worth 4 pcs for P 10 at the street. Do you like Siomai House too?

Hello Laniekins, It's alright to have an addiction towards a certain like of food. unfortunately, i believe siomai's proven to be expensive as i see it in the other kiosks. hahaha i didn't realize we have something that is considered free. I haven't eaten siomai that much but my addiction is "cornic"

Hi Laniekins, is the 'siomai' one of the chinese food (dim sum) you are talking about here? Is it the little meat ball that steamed and served? If that is, I would say it's one of my favorite food too! How much it costs in that Siomai House you mentioned? Expensive?

Absolutely yes, it's cost Php 25.00 per 4pcs or converted to less than $1 if you convert it into Philippine peso. I love how they steam and the ingredients they use in their siomai.

@ Lucas818, I was surprised the prices of goods in Malaysia are lower than that in the Philippines. I have been to Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, and Petaling Jaya and found that street food are both delicious and cheap! My kids are always excited to visit Malaysia.

Well, I get your point! Currently, I'm working in Penang, Malaysia. Here has many chinese people. If you or any of mylotters happen to be in Penang, let me know and I can show you the good siomai as well. By the way, it's quite cheap over here. : )

I love them. I usually eat it with rice.. I tried doing some fried siomai using that (since they cook it by steam, in the frying pan, just put 1 teaspoon and fry them for 30 seconds.. you have to hear that popping sound because of the wate and oil effect).. I eat them when I am too damn lazy to cook dinner... hehehe.

There are fried siomai and dumplings on Paotsin, it has rice alreay at P 45.00. The sauce taste good too.

Oh Paotsin is good too! I love everything about it. You can have a decent meal in such a low price. I used to order a lot of Shark's fin in Paotsin but ever since I watched a documentary in National Geographic about how brutal fishermen kill sharks just for their fins, I stopped eating it as my own little way of protest.

laniekins, I agree! Good to know I am not the only one addicted to Siomai House. In an LRT station near our house, there is a Siomai House. Their siomai is comparable to that of authentic Chinese cuisine restaurants (A.K.A., not chowking!) I have tried master siomai's beef siomai and I did not like it!

Lol. I do the same thing! To save some money, I usually bring rice at school and buy 4 pieces of Siomai in a Dim sum store near my campus. That way, my lunch would only cost me 25 pesos. Much much cheaper than if I buy something from McDonald or Jollibee. :)

I would like to differ here. I never liked the expensive siomais because they just taste the same and the sauce they provide is just too little for me. I am someone who prefers spicy siomai and they just cannot provide me that much satisfaction with theirs. Master Siomai is the worst I have eaten as it leaves a taste in my mouth. I take a candy every time I have had a meal at Master Siomai. There are sometimes wherein my relatives would want to eat and so I have no choice but to purchase from their stall. I prefer the cheap ones on the road but I am also choosy. What really gives the taste to these siomais are their sauce and there is a mobile stall somewhere at the entrance of our subdivision wherein the sauce is really spicy and their siomai just matches it. I am already familiar with the vendor and he knows what I prefer and whenever I eat, I do not have to ask him for anything, it is just the same routine every meal.

The siomai in the street for me is just like eating a whole flour. I doubt if there is a meat inside. I don't like spicy food but I can tolerat siomai house, you can eat the siomai alone in siomai house, plus if you dine-in, you can have as much sauce as you can.

hello, my suggestion would be, if you are addicted to any kind of food is to learn to make it yourself, I may sound rather off beat but to eat what you really like a few times in a month is not fair, you see after the down turn and prior to that, we experienced financial difficulties and we just can't afford to eat in restaurants like we use to, so my creative wife and I learned to cook our favorites ( we just can't stand the children requesting to eat out), I always craved for Japanese Sushi but when we learned how to make it, it was a third or more of the cost if you eat it out. FYI, siomai is nothing more than " pancit molo", the only thing is that it's not a soup but it's steamed. Almost similar fillings (modify to your taste if you like), if you do not know how to make the molo wrapper then it's always available in the mall. Siomai filling is also similar to siopao which is harder to make because of the dough but similar because it is steamed. Learn to make it and that craving would go away,BTW i have not heard or eaten siomai house but my favourite is henlin and before there use to be kowloon house, but who cares now when we can make our own and satisfy our cravings and save a lot

I get excited by what you've said, imagine cooking siomai and eating lots of it at home but the problem is if it taste just like how siomai house taste. I also don't have time to cook since I am busy working person and the rice cooker with steamer is not working. But if I get married and have time to cook, I'll definitely cook my own siomai at my home.

Before, I really don't like to eat siomai, it's because I thought it's not delicious. When I'm aunt encouraged me to try it, I was delighted because, it was really so yummy. Here in our place, There is no Siomai House, Only Master Siomai is available.

Same like me, when it first hit big in the Philippines I don't tried it. In fact I find siomai weird, I first tasted it when my friend crave for it in a mall, it was good but I didn't like it. It's just now that I realize I love this food.

Hello Lanie. :) If you are a sucker for Siomai and other Chinese dim sums, you could visit Tramway in Timog or in Crossing. It is an eat all you can restaurant that only caters Chinese foods. I was in there the other day and I ate tons of steamed and fried siomai. :) Their fee is 239 person and you can stay there for two hours. Any additional hour or fraction of an hour will be charged. :) Anyway, like you, I am also a sucker for Siomai. However, I actually like Master Siomai more than Siomai House. Maybe because my mom used to buy Siomai House a lot before and I grew tired of it. So far, the best Siomai I have tasted in the one in Causeway. It is a bit expensive though; three pieces for sixty pesos. But I assure you it is worth the try. :)

I'm not sure if I have already tried siomai house's but the store closest to our house is master siomai. They're siomai is not as bad as you say it is in my opinion. Or maybe you bought from a rip-off of master siomai? If you really like siomai, why don't you try making them yourself? I am sure that with a little practice, you'll make a delicious siomai of your own! And what's good about it is you can add your own personal touch to the siomai. Experimenting in the kitchen is fun. :D Hope I helped. :)

I haven't actually tried any of their dumplings but I've heard good raves about them. I'm a Hen Lin and King Bee person :) Their siomai really suits my taste. But if get a chance, I'll have one from Siomai House. I just can't seem to find an outlet near our house or the places I go to.

I haven't taste Hen Lin's siomai. There are lots of franchise store of Siomai House in the mall and even in the street. They use a different soy sauce, fried garlic with chilli and calamansi. It's the best among siomai cart for me.

I agree, Siomai House is better than Master Siomai. I like garlic and chili in Siomai House, that makes their siomai taste better than Master Siomai. Why not cook your own siomai to have a lesser expenses...it's so easy to make then.

good day laniekins, with reference to your main topic, i do also love to eat siomai. as i have no preference on it, either that product came from Master Siomai, Siomai House, Chowking or even HenLin. as for me, they are all good tasting. although, there are times, we try to look for some different taste on it, as the reason why some will like this and some will like those. i think, it depends on the person eating it. although as you have said, you preferred to eat siomai coming from Siomai House. bon appetite.

Hi Airshelia, yes, it depends on our taste buds but I'd rather not to buy from Master siomai, I know that I will just throw my money if I buy siomai from that store.
