A thought on Valentine Day

India
February 13, 2012 8:30am CST
February 14th is observed as Valentine day. Earlier it was not popular in India, but for the last 20 years or show it is gaining momentum, here in my city cost of red rose has gone 10 times , some say it will rise more; same is with Valentine Day cards. A political group is against this celebration, they are supposed to create problem, so local police here are alert and police are posted in parks, historical places; as per news police are posted in Tajmahal in Agra. Hubby’s friend Prof Rodrigues visited our home today with a bunch of red roses and wished all members in my family. Subhee took the bunch and thanked her. Prof Rodrigues said they observe this as Valentine week; here are the details. Rose day-February 7th, Propose day-February 8th, Chocolate day-February-9th, Teddy day-February-10th, Promise day-February 11th, Kiss day-February 12th, Hug day-February 13th, Valentine day-February 14th. I and Prof will celebrate this as ‘Parent’s day’, we will attend a meeting on 14th evening at a local hotel, it is organized by hubby’s friends. So how you celebrate this, just one day or one full week? This discussion is devoted to the great Saint Valentine. HAPPY VALENTINE DAY TO ALL MYLOT MEMBERS. Please comment and share your valued opinion. Kalyani 13/02/2012.

In addition to celebrating Valentine's day on Feb 14, my family is also used to celebrating Feb 13, as that happens to be my birthday! As I can see from your post, it seems that you consider Feb 13 as Hug day, which seems so nice! So thanks for the St Valentine Days wishes, which I will also take as a Happy Birthday wish too! Happy Valentine Day for you and your family!!

Valentines Day is over and I hope you had a lot of fun. Different people celebrated it in their own sweet way with all the flowers, the chocolates, the balloons and anything to depict Love. We went out for a dinner together to enjoy the night. We can't really skip celebrating this day. It is a day to celebrate Love which is the greatest of all.Although we should always celebrate Love each moment of our life, it is wonderful to have a special day to do it together with the whole world. So indeed Valentines Day to me is special.

Chocolates and roses - These make me glad
But indeed the winner during Valentines Day are the vendors of flowers and chocolates. They have the highest sales perhaps during this day and I just can't really imagine how people still keeps buying the flowers although the prices have gone too unbelievable.

I like the idea of celebrating all week, or all month. The important thing is to appreciate your loved ones all of the time. Some of your days promote buying more things, others do not. In my opinion we need to celebrate all kinds of things because our hearts are light when we are joyful.

Here, Valentine's Day is a holiday that is celebrated only on a single day. Now, for my husband and myself haven't really celebrated Valentine's Day yet because of the fact that the holiday happened in the middle of the week and my husband does have to work so that we are able to pay our bills. I honestly don't know that I would like it if it was something that was celebrated for an entire week.

My wonderful husband bought the first romantic movie we ever saw together on Blu-ray. As weird as it sounds the first romantic movie we ever saw together was "Lady and The Tramp". On our very first Valentine's Day I had been in college and he had surprised me. I had asked him what we were going to do for Valentine's Day and he told me he had to work that night and was so upset. I was disappointed, but understood. My friend Bridget and I were hanging out in her dorm room (Randy had called her that morning and said that he really was not working that he wanted to surprise me). Well, while I was spending time with my friend Bridget Randy was in my dorm room decorating my bed with red rose petals and a big giant M and M stuffed animal. There was also a big box of chocolate. He had also arranged with a friend to borrow a TV and a DVD player and brought it to my room. After Randy had everything set up he went to Bridget's room and asked if I was there. He said are you ready to go out to dinner and I said well, I have to go back to my room and get my purse. He said okay I'll come with you. Once I walked into my room I saw the M and M stuffed animal, the box of chocolate and then I said where did the TV and DVD player come from and he said that he was borrowing it. We went to Golden Coral for dinner and then came back and watched "Lady and the Tramp". It was a great Valentine's Day.

in India this day is treated as love couples' day. so the poltical group is against those peple who treats it as couple day. on this day many boys thiks that they can mold her girl friend upto any extend but it is not good. if we celeberate this day as leve message and spared love message to all then this would not create any problem to any one. but not politica group but also parents of girl do not allowed their girl to go outside, becouse in India this day is taken in some other way, u can imagine wat i mean to say. i am not against the valentine day, but the way it iis treated.

Wow! It's nice to hear that. Here in the Philippines we also celebrate Valentines Day every year. It's a very special day for lovers and couples here. I hope your family will enjoy tomorrow's celebration. Happy Valentines Day to all of you too! :-)

Why is a political group protesting Valentine's day? I am really curious. We don't actually celebrate much but sometimes we give each other flowers. It's mostly for couples only.
