Furniture made from recycled materials

I was looking at furniture online and I came across a couple of sites that contain pictures of unusual furniture and furniture made from recycled materials. I found a couch that was made from an old bathtub (the front of the bathtub had been removed) Another unusual couch was made from old sodacans. It was a very colourful sight, because the cans were all different. The couch didn't look very comfortable, but it was definitely unsual. Have you seen pictures of furniture made from recycled materials? What do you think about the idea? Would you make that kind of furniture and use it in your living room or do you prefer to buy "ordinary" furniture in a shop? Why?

I haven't seen the picture yet, but I remember going to the furniture-building place where all new and second hand furniture are processed. The used furniture might be turned into new one with new design. When we look at the brand new ones, we are never sure what it was like unless you witness the whole process.

I think that it would be interesting to follow the process in the a furniture-building place like the one you visited. It is true that it is hard to understand how they transformed the old things if you didn't witness the entire process. Some of the furniture from recycled materials that I have seen on the internet look quite interesting, but when I look at the furniture I wonder how they actually made those things. If I was going to make my own furniture from recycled materials I wouldn't be sure where to start or how to do it, but I like the idea.

I am a lover of recycled stuff. I pay high respect to these people who purchase and who design this kind of stuff. Here in the Philippines, there are too many shows that had been featured on national television because of their concern for the environment. If given an opportunity, Yes I am willing to buy furniture from recycled materials as along as it is cheap.

It is nice to hear that you are willing to buy furniture from recycled materials. I would do the same thing, but like you say we also have to consider the price. I think that there are relatively few places in my country where we are able to find that kind of furniture, so I am not sure how much it costs. I have also thought about making my own furniture from recycled materials, but I don't really have the skills to do that, so I would have to find someone who can help me with the practical things.

Hi! The idea of using or buying furniture made from re-cycled material per se is not bad rather it sounds exciting. However, one needs to ascertain the durability of such furniture. One purchases furniture for longer use, therefore, its should be durable and should be able to withstand all the pressures.

That is a good point. I like the idea of recycled furniture, but it is important the furniture has been built the right away and that is doesn't fall apart after a short while. When I looked at the picture of the couch made from sodacans that I mentiioned when I started the discussion I couldn't help wondering if the was going to last. A couch is something that we use a lot for instanse when visitors arrive, so it is important that it has been built the right way.

I have seen a lot of these. And it is nice to know that instead of wasting money to buy one, you can make one with materials that are not used. In the Philippines, there are a lot of items that were trash and were recycled and created something new like bags and couches even window curtains. If I were given a chance I would recycle the old items and build a new one, I mean if you recycle, the money that is meant to buy a new couch can be bought something else like a new television. There are also shops here that do those kind of things, build something out of recycled materials.

It is nice to hear that many things are recycled in the Philippines. In my own country I haven't seen many shops where they build things out of recycled materials except some bags made from juice containers and some wallets made from old coffee bags. My wallet is one of those wallets made from old coffee bags. I would like to recycle some things and make new things for my home, but I haven't found the right idea yet.

Frankly, I haven't seen them. But they sound quite interesting. I'd consider myself a conservative person; but my children seem to take after my spouse who is rather an artistic person. Our house is full of their art works and they'll probably like these kind of unique furniture.

I am from a conservative family myself, my parents would have considered that kind of furniture, but I am different, and I like the idea of unusual things. I don't have any recycled furniture in my home at the moment, but I am open for the idea. I am artist and I would like to recycle things in my art. If I get the right idea I will create my own furniture.

sounds really fantastic. neverheard about it though. we used to do a nos of such activities during our school life as curricullum activities...but its been ages now. anyways, i would certianly like to try such things in my house provided that really is good and comfortable. having said that i would check on options online and see wahts avaible. why?....well it definatly saves money for sure.its creative idea.catches attention for sure. so why not try...ordinary furniture is available all the time...its always difficult to be different

Checking out the options online sounds like a good idea, I would do that, too. Yes, ordinary furniture is always available, there are so many shops that sell ordinary furniture, but when we recreate our own furniture it is unique. I like the idea of having unique furniture in my house, and I thinking about building my own couch, but I haven't found the right idea yet.
