New employee probationary only half a day ....

This morning, a candidate for accounting positions to try to work at our company. Former employees have come from the company to guide and hand over the work for her. However, after lunch, she said that she should go home. In early afternoon hours, she did not return to work. She also did not call back to inform the company of her decision. For me, this action is actually very rude. No matter how skilled she was like, this action shows that she's inexperienced and unprofessional. Do you agree?

Tolerance is the must in our work. We shall expect and be ready to meet different types of people in this society. In my personal view, this new staff was an irresponsible and an immoral person since your company was preparing everything for her to take over. May be, she was not confident to take over the responsibility. This was the main reason she disappeared in such way.

She might have had a reason to go home and not return, but she should have called or told someone what it was. I would think a new employee on probation would do everything they could to be professional. Unless she decided she didn't really want the job, but even then she should have told someone.

The company is well rid of her and can count itself lucky they found out her true colours early on. I know it takes all types to make this world but that is simply bad manners for whatever the reason.

There could be a reason why she did not report from work, but if there is she should inform your company so that there are no jobs that are left to sacrifice. Maybe there is something happen to her, problems maybe, or maybe she felt she do not like her job responsibility. I agree that it might sound rude as that was her first day in a new job but her performance is poor and non admirable. I did that on my former employer, I attended my first day of job and I was absent on the next day, but going to work for half day is really unprofessional.

Maybe she left without telling the company about her decision, because she didn't want to admit that she didn't like the job or found it too hard, but I still think that it is wrong of her to leave like that. If she has changed her mind about the job she could have least have told the company about her decision, I think it is rude and irresponsible to leave without a word. I have experienced the same in aome of my jobs. People have left without a word, they never said that they wanted to quit, they simply stopped coming to work. Their behaviour created problems for the rest of the employees, because we had to do their work as well.

No matter the reason is, she should know the SOP in a workplace that she should inform her immediate superior if she is leaving the company specially if its under time. She should know that there were works that will be left hanging so she should be responsible enough to know this.
