The technique to overcome depression and be happy with your life is, go out and do good. You know, don't wait for the positive happy feeling to come to you. Instead, act on it. Go out and help others. When you do positive things, when you take positive actions, positive feelings follow.

I think you are on the right track magtibaygom, I think depression can be a self pity type of thing in a lot of cases and to get out there and make a difference in maybe someone elses life otr just see how some other people get through life who is a lot worse than yourdelf...I did this in a Nursing Home , volunteering and it worked for me.

I used to be a depressed kid back in school. Now I don't have it totally. But I do seem to experience it in seasonal form. The best you can do to overcome depression is to take up a volunteer for a nursing home of senior citizen or disable people. If you see their sorrow you will feel that things that bother you are just trivial. My mom gave me this idea when I was suffering from depression.

Everything in life has a purpose, God gave us things that we won't agree but we have to face it no matter what.. Frustrations and disappointments will always come our way, it just a matter of how to handle it.. If ever you feel frustrated, down, sad and depressed, pray to God for guidance.. He is the only one who can help us with so many uncertainties in our lives. That is the only advice I can give you, because every time and everyday of my life I always make sure that I lift up everything to HIM and I hope you will too Happy mylotting:)

depends on many things the longer you have been depressed the harder to get out of it also what causes your depression some people get depressed due to their own sensitivity, some people get it due to many tragic events in their lives talk to a doctor or someone you can trust might know how to help you you can't think positive if you can't even think :) so first let it out to someone, share your burden so that it doesn't bottle up

See your doctor. Your doctor can suggest a good psychiatrist. I'm in the same boat. I have speech problems (expressive aphasia) due to depression. An antidipressant alone won't help me. I'll be calling the new psyc doc on Tuesday to try and get an appointment for next month. Depression is an ILLNESS. It's not just a way of thinking... there are many possible causes for depression... some are situational, but most are cases of depression are caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. See your doctor. It's very important.

Hello chayan! :) You should accept the fact why things happened not according to your wants. I know you are frustrated because of the certain situation you are facing right now. Thinking positively is a sign of success. :) that all things happens for a reason. If you will continue to be frustrated then nothing will changed. And don't ever forgot to pray to God and asked for His guidance. That everything will be alright according to His will and in your wants. Hope that you have learned something..;)

Hi chayan, in life all of us go through such stages, so you can take comfort in the fact that almost all human beings have their ups and downs. However, overcoming it is entirely upto you.I have had more downs then ups in my life and today I feel that it has made me tough and ready to face any adversities in life.I may feel bad when something tragic happens but I am able to move on...You too will be able to do that in time.Do analyse and try to get to the cause of your depression and be impartial about it and see if you can find a solution to it.I am sure in time your mind will be occupied with other things ...all the best and take care

Hello chayan07, we react differently to things or events -- what would be good for me might not be good for you. But I hope things such as walking along greens, open space, observing people pass by, biking, watching comedy videos, or swimming can help you cheer up. Experiment, do various things... and discover what makes you happy. There are some here who suggested helping other people -- this is effective, chayan. You talk about being frustrated... we all experience this feeling of frustration. If we can do something to change or remove the cause of frustration, then we try our best to do it. But if we cannot do anything about the cause, then we let go. It's life, we do not win all the time. We try to find another option or choice.

My own way of overcoming depression is trying to live a healthy lifestyle. Eat regularly, and don't hunger yourself for it causes thinking problems. Go jogging or biking in the mountains. And always feed your soul with wisdom, and prayers. If you believe in God(or whoever you believe in), pray to Him all your sorrows and what depresses you and you will feel better. Good luck. :)

Hi, depression is very common in life for many people these days.I've been suffering from depression for years now.I was on medication in the past, but that's not the answer,I stopped taking it because there has to be better methods like ,meditation, prayers to your belief, definately UV lighting, for me sunshine helps, taking vitamins,I like natural healing for myself. Medication isn't the answer to everything.Right now it's winter toime where I live and the sun doesn't shine much,so I feel it more. Getting out of the house helps, get busy doing things in your life. Well I hope we both feel better soon, I'll keep you in my prayers,

Any good doctor will tell you this: Proper medication either long-term or short-term,which will help balance the brain chemicals that regulates the mood centre of your brain. Proper nutrition is very important. We can actually lift our moods simply by eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and low fat dairy. Refined sugar and refined flour products can have a negative effect on your moods, if taken in large quantities. A good therapist will help you look at life from a fresh perspective, and give you the proper tools (coping mechanisms) on how to deal with frustrating life circumstances. Plenty of exercise and sunshine will help lift your mood. You'll get the Vitamin D which also helps with mood regulation. Exercise will always give you a good boost in your spirits, and you'll have that good, refreshed tiredness and a wonderful sense of accomplishment. This is a general way of dealing with your depression, I have depression and anxiety disorder and followed all these steps and found that this regimin has helped me a lot. Also look around for a good, organic Vitamin D supplement and omega-3 fatty acids. An OTT lamp, which is expensive but worth the price, will give the natural UV light and help your body develop the Vitamin D it needs inside your home. Best wishes.

For me,maybe hanging out with your friends will make you feel better.Or maybe, find someone who can be trusted like your mother, your family and try open up your problems, everything you want to say.Its also good when you burst it all, good and bad things.Don't hide and keep it all by yourself. It can sometimes lead to sin like killing yourself or doing crimes.Actually,I just realized that It's easy to give advices when someone needs on opinion or your help but when you are already involved in that situation, its difficult to handle things all by yourself.Sometimes, you don't know what to do,there are so many things bothering in your mind like "what if's",what if like this, what if like that.I shouldn't have done this....I should have done that....But I know you can overcome that, just have faith, like what I'm doing right know.Even if its a tough situation, and there are times that I'm blaming myself,I'm trying my best to be strong."After the rain, there is always a rainbow"..Maybe,this is not really meant for me.:(

It is hard to give you advice which will be working. Did you try to go to doctor. It can help. And also when you try to set your mind on something possitive, moments, thoughts or things which makes you happy. Try to think possitive, if possible for you. It is working on me and it is the best what I can say like advice. Try it and you will see if some good results appears.

I have had a very difficult time with depression for the last 3 years or so and it has changed me, my behavior and life drastically. I went to a doctor who has me on the right track now, and I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel again. I was always waking up feeling dread and all kinds of stuff. But I made some changes in the things which made me feel this dread, and it has helped. They are things I didn't want to do or don't enjoy, but all and all, it has helped me mentally. Sometimes you need medications to help. My doctor also suggests meditation and relaxation.
