Which would you prefer, being poor with honor or being rich but with dishonor?

Nowadays, people are getting so materialistic they can afford to loss their honor as long as they have plenty of money to buy big houses, high end cars and live a luxurious lifestyle. Some rich people whose values have been thwarted with wrong values have lived to becoming more selfish. Others have become so corrupt they have forgotten that the money they have been using are from the government coffers. Just imagine some government officials with not much big salary yet can afford to have several mansions and buildings, tracks of lands and several millions of bank deposits.

I would rather be poor with honor. I'm simple and like simple things. I do not like a lot of stuff cluttering up my home (which is small by normal standards, but perfect for us). I feel if I cannot wear it, use it, or eat it then I do not need it!

Can I just be comfortable with a mild amount of dignity? That does seem to be the most obvious lifestyle for me, when it all comes down to it. Granted, being rich does seem like an absolute nightmare to say the least, so that would be the less of two options. All that money to keep track of and the fact that really, if you do have any friends, they are only out for a handout. And sadly money leads to a disconnect from the plight of the common man. Then again, being poor is not really all sunshine and roses either. And let's face it, many poor people are likely going to do some pretty desperate things. There is honor for some but honorable poor people are not something that go together automatically. Just like there a few rich people that aren't jerks. So yeah, none of the above. I'd rather be comfortable with a mild amount of dignity.

The poor for sure, and I'm sort of am that person. Being rich and with dishonor it's not a life. Or those who are millionaire would never kill themselves but there are those who lost the pleasure of life and did it, even though they had everything materially speaking so the inside must be more important than outside materials and pleasures.

Better to be poor and honest, than rich and dishonest, because money comes and goes, your reputation doesn't. Better to be poor and honest than to be dishonest and rich. Proverbs 28:6

hehe, it won't be easy to give an opinion here wherein u are already judging the latter choice. It is very obvious u have your side and if I make a point in here about being rich, I am not sure if u will allow yourself to evaluate it. good morning. ;-)

I would much rather keeping my honor and be poor. There are more challenges to being poor and I have never shrinked from a challenge. People have gotten to materialistic and will do whatever it takes to get what they want. I'm not saying that everyone is that way, but you look at the paper and read about the robberies and muggings. Then there are the bank robberies and even robberies from Wal Mart. Also, the shoplifting is incredible. I am amazed at how the shoplifters can get packaging open that takes me a knife, scissors, and a pliers to get open!! I guess I just didn't have the right training!! I love my life the way it is, I am far from rich, but I have honor and I still reach out when I can and help others. It is the perfect way for me to live.

In life, you couldn't have it all. Money isn't everything. Some would say that money would make them happy but it's not. Money can only do things that can make u happy. I prefer to be poor with honor. It's because in this life, A character is not that important.

Hello airamtheb, I can't say as you know money is always important in life to have basic things if i am able to gather the basic thing only with honour that's OK otherwise i won't mind to be dishonoured to get some money.

I would rather be poor with honor. It is very important to me that all I have in my life was attained honestly, through hard work and dedication. If I had money that I had acquired through less than honests means then I would not be able to live with myself. My dad taught me that hard work is the only way to have success and I live by that.
