the last minute man

I am really a last minute man. For example, there are four hours left for me. I will do nothing useful in the first hour, and the second hour will be very difficult because I feel anxious but I do not want to finish the plan. In the third hour, I could finish some little plan of the whole day in order to have a peaceful heart to finish the main plan. Only the last hour will be useful to finish my plan, of course, the only hour is not enough for me... Do you have the same problem? How would you deal with that?

well, i am exactly the opposite of you as i reserve my time in advance. meaning i see to it that have advance spare time to finish and prepare my things and plan for the present day until tomorrow. so when the deadline arrive or plan to go somewhere. i am already prepare my things in advance so i could still have time to relax and not worry a bit.

Exactly the same!!! Actually I've never understood why... the thing is that the next time "I'll manage my time better".... Do you believe it?... Neither me... The only answer that I give me is that I can work only in "rush-mode" because calm turn me off. The thing that bores me more is that I cannot find a middle way to manage my activities... lucky who can do it... this is the key!!!

Maybe you need to make yourself work in 'rush-mode' although the deadline is not approaching.

i am the total opposite from you... i don't like to procrastinate and i always like to finish my tasks as early as possible... it feels that a big load and responsibilities have been lifted up from me whenever i finish my tasks... after that then i will reward myself and have fun... i think it just comes to time management and discipline... take care and have a nice day...

I appreciate your passion and your ability to compete. You are so determined to deal with the stress of task. I hope I can learn something from your method. Maybe I am lack of confidence to finish the task when I like to procrastination, so I have to be confident for everything I face. Have a nice day, lingli.

We call that procrastination. You have analyzed it very well. I do not know how to get over it, other than to break your plan down into small steps and perhaps reward yourself for each step you accomplish. It is a really common human problem.

In the past I would act like you. Especially when I was a child. I didn't do the homework in the summer vacation and I found I couldn't finish it on time when I went to school. So I learned from this lesson. Now I will not leave the work to be finished in the last minute. If I have extra time, I can double check it and make it better. I love China

I am so lucky that I posted this discussion yesterday. Now I know that there are a lot of people who can deal with the procrastination very well. The very spirit will be needed in my life. You can double check the plan and make it better with your extra time. That is awsome.

The real problem is on commitment ..... If you want to finish what you plan, you need to like (or love) main purpose of your plan. Everything gonna be easier if you like it.

It is great that you offer another side of the method. The task will be easier to finish with your interest and passion.

See I am the exact opposite a lot of the time. I have to get everything done at the earliest possible opportunity. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean that I will mindlessly rush through everything. But I like to really get things out of the way, so I can just sit back, take a deep breath, and rather enjoy the fruits of my labor to say the very least. I think that if I did stall(and the couple times that I have), it would kind of sabotage what I am trying to do. Where I tend to get overcome with a case of case of self doubt and wonder if this can be done. Which is why to me it is rather prudent to really start as soon as possible to say the very least. So start early, end early, be fruitful, that's my motto at least.

I like your motto, start early, end early, be fruitful. I am sure you will benefit a lot from this motto during your career. Obviously your curiosity helps you a lot, that makes you more active to try what else you can do. Good Luck.

Hi xiaobing, That is called procrastination. People procrastinate for a variety of reasons. Some people are just lethargic. Some have less energy and so are less enthusiastic about starting and completing their tasks when first given to them. I suspect a lot of people procrastinate and they feel really stressed up when the deadline approaches and they tell themselves that it's not worth the headache and that next time they will start and complete their tasks in good time and not wait until the last minute. However, guess what happens when the next time comes around? They repeat this stressful habit. For these people if they really want to overcome procrastination they should first have a strong desire to do so. Then they can go about getting help and advice. The internet is full of useful tips that can really work. Have a nice day.

Hi succeed, I agree with you. 'next time' is really a big problem for me. It helps me to forgive myself a lot of times and has nothing to do with the procrastination. You are right that I posted this discussion for some help. Now I learn from your advice that I first need have a strong desire to finish my task everyday. Thank you.
