Why is it disrespectful to stand up parents, even as an adult

This is the reason why society has conditioned people to believe that parents are somehow Godly beings. And that sons and daughters are just possessions or property to control and do whatever they want to do with them. That's just BS, people should not have to take any crap or abuse just because it's their parents. Or others defending the parents.

Everyone must stand by their own principals and what they believe, but there is a way projecting these to parents, in a calm way, it is not disrespectful to live your own life and have your own ideas on things, parents should teach theit children but as their children grow they must step aside litlle by little, and then accept the children they have brought up will make their own decisions in life.
