One day I was in hospital and I was waiting for Dr. my brother was with me. He take the book and start the reading and told me you should also read. I said I am not interested he told ohhh why you are spending the time or wasting the time. Second day again my brother came with me on station for leaving me and the train was 1 hour late. He again started reading the book. I asked which book you are reading then he told me Narayan Murthy, The founder of Infosys company(the well-known software company which he co-founded with six other professionals in 1981) all story were published in that book how they face the lots of problem but finally get achievement. Again my brother told me you should also read this type of books when you are waiting anywhere for anyone. What you think this is good habit and good idea for using the time.

I like to carry a book in my bag when I leave the house. There are many situations where I have to wait for instanse when I have an appointment in a clinic or when I have to catch a train or a bus, and I think that reading is a nice way to spend the waiting time. Sometimes I have to wait several hours and it is nice to have something to do while I am waiting. Some time ago my husband had to talk to a doctor and we went to the clinic together. I didn't bring a book, because I didn't think that we had to wait that long, but we waited several hours. I wished that I had brought something to read, because that way I could have used the time in a better way.

Hi Fanta, i do like to read a lot. Most of the time, i will bring along either a story book or magazine for reading whenever i am out from my home. I think reading is a good way to overcome stress as well. Besides that, it will beat the boring time of waiting as well. Sometimes, i even bring along a cartoon story book for my son to read, too. I think it is good to teach children like to read from a very young age.

Yeah, agree with you sis!!! Waiting for someone or something sometimes will cause stress and by reading books we are at least not just concentrating to the waiting part only. I don't like to wait so I need something to distract my attention and books will save the day!!(^^)

I love to read so I always take a book if I will have to wait. I suppose that, if you donĀ“t like reading, there must be other activities that you prefer in those cases. But as for me, I cannot think of any easiest way of passing time and having fun.

Yeah, reading takes boredom out of you especially if you are waiting for something and you have nobody to talk to. There was this company that I visited once and we were not allowed to bring our cellphones or any other storage devices inside. I was in the lobby waiting for my name to be called and I don't have anybody with me. I forgot to bring a book that day so just imagine sitting there for almost 3 hours doing nothing! Infosys is quite a well-known bpo company here in our country

Hehe..I think I have the same experience when there is no book with me I got nothing to do and just waiting for the person to came..and it seemed that I looked stupid to just stare at others waiting and waiting without doing 'anything'~(^^)

Yes it is super boring. All I could do is stand up and go to the washroom and sit on my chair again. I'm never really fond of waiting. I'm not sure if there one anyway and I always have a book inside my bag, it is just that one instant when the book is nowhere to be found.

Yeah, one could use a cellphone or other gadgets to keep himself busy but there are just places where storage devices are not allowed. Especially in Banking and finance buildings! Ugh and that is where I was

I carry a book with me whenever I know I may have to wait... doctor's office, dentist, hospital waiting room for any reason of being there, lab, whereever. The magazines in the waiting rooms are not that interesting and I might as well use my time doing something I want to do rather than being impatient and watching the clock.

Hi, fantabulus: Yes i think this is good habit and good idea for using time, especially since most people have a large spare time, which they have no income and reason for its exsistence. therefore we have a choice in how to control this time, and not be considered lost time. Wait your turn in the clinic Dr., the time spent on public transport to go or return from work. All those times are considered lost, if it did not take them in something useful, such as reading.

I do have that same habit. I make sure to bring a book with me so if in case I need to wait for a long time, I won't feel bored. I usually do that whenever I will be waiting for a friend or my husband who is usually late. This is just to kill the time and won't even notice that they are late. :)

It's something that I do as well. I've always enjoyed reading, ever since I was a kid. I find that it's a good way to pass the time, when I'm waiting for my appointment, or a bus, or something like that. It's something that I do to pass the time, usually when I'm waiting by myself though.

I do too. Even if it's slow at work I tend to read, just to pass the time, plus I have about a million books to read right now. I do love reading, too. But normally I am not sitting waiting for anything, except for it to get busy at work. There's nothing wrong with being an avid reader!

Of course, definitely a good habit to read while passing the time. I don't read. I do puzzles while passing the time waiting for my daughter to come out of school. I cannot just sit in the car doing nothing. If there's a newspaper around, I will read it otherwise I always carry along with me a Sudoku puzzle book.

Hi Fantabulus!. I can not stand waiting without do any thing, especially when I don't had someone who company me. I really easy to get bored and interesting book usually help me to kill the time. So I usually bring book if I had to wait for a long time and had no chance in making new friend. I usually feel its easier to kill time when you chat with somebody else but if no one to talk too, its better bring book.

Hi sis! Yes, I do. If I know that I am going to wait for someone, I will make sure I got something to read- magazine, book, novel or even newspaper. I just feel that it is good to at least read something to spend my time than waiting and do 'nothing'. If I don't feel like to read and that place got tv I will surely watch the program on tv~(^^)

The best thing is whenever I wait for someone in some place that place will either show news or educational program. I will not going to watch it if they screened football or soccer channel. I don't really like such kind of tv program.(^^)

Yes.. if I know that am going to be waiting somewhere for a long time, I tend to take a book with me, if I remember that is. These days, I have an Amazon Kindle E-book reader, and I have lots of books on there that I can be reading, so I tend to take that with me. _Derek

I'm very fun in reading romance and suspense pocket books before, when I travel, and when I'm waiting for someone. I read for not to get bored. That was before I don't have nothing but a pocket book. Now I have a cellphone with internet, it's my hobby now surfing and chatting with my cellphone rather bringing books on me.

Hi Fantabulus, Yes, I almost always have a book in my purse for times like that. It makes the waiting time seem to go by faster. I hate just sitting and waiting for someone while staring at the walls. Getting lost in a good book is the best way that I've found to pass that time. Any book will do. It doesn't have to be what your brother enjoys. Find a book that captivates your interest and you won't want to put it down.
