Here in my state and other states in India, the babies are given oral vaccination for polio and injections for others. As per Government programme, ‘Pulse Polio’, one can get the baby’s vaccinated FREE in Government hospitals and some Private hospitals also some Health care associations.
One can buy them from some private hospitals and doctors, but the price is high; there were cases when they gave vaccines, that had crossed expiry date, reason is plane, very few people can afford the high cost; more over why buy if you get free.
My grandson Bishu and granddaughter Subhee were given polio vaccine yesterday, 26th February, Sunday in the camp near our home; they set up camps on Sundays.
I marked one new thing, on the little finger of the babies they applied indelible ink, this mark remains for few days.
This they did, because some mothers earlier had their babies vaccinated MORE THAN ONCE, the same day; due to this some developed polio.

Do you have such free vaccinations in your place, just want to know.
Do they organize such camps?
Where you get your babies vaccinated?
Please respond, share and comment.

God bless you

Though the vaccines aren't completely free, in my state there is a vaccine program where children that don't have health insurance are able to receive their vaccines for ten dollars for each session instead of having to pay the complete retail price for them.
Now, my daughter is fully vaccinated for her age, but my son is under vaccinated because he was born when there was a fear of a link between vaccines and autism. I need to get him vaccinated now, but I haven't been able to because our family hasn't been cleared for vaccines by my husband's oncologist.

Hi there kalyni2011,
Here in my country we do have health centers that provide monthly polio vaccinations, and also as well as in rural far flung areas such camps do take place for vaccinations and it is given free by the government but if a person would like to get it from any private institution they can for a price.
We do also hvae issues with areas that are not given with anti-polio vaccine, so it is still an issue to be adressed, but i hope that this disease will be completely wiped out since there is a solution and it's free. Happy lotting.

When I was a child they did vaccinations at the school, and did the entire family if it was a newly developed vaccine. We all received the oral polio vaccine. When I had my babies, thirty or more years ago our family doctor gave their vaccines in his office. Now we go to "county health departments" and nurses give the vaccine. You can go on certain days. There is usually a book that the parent carries, plus the nurse puts the baby and the birth date into the computer. Sometimes parents pay and sometimes insurance pays.

Vaccinations where I live (Austria) are connected to the school, so children are taken for vaccination and it is up to the teacher to see that they are paid for and that a record is kept on a card. Polio is a compulsory vaccination, but there are also other ones, where it is up to the parents to organize and pay for.

Yes, in the Philippines, government has a plan that gives free oral polio vaccine to children through our "Barangay" ( smallest unit of government in the Philippines) health centers, I think it's free but at times it's up to you if you want to give a little donation. Although it's a little bit expensive to get it in a private clinic, my children get their vaccination in a mall where there is also a clinic because our family pediatrician has a clinic there and she has been handling my children's records since they were born so I trust her very much, yes it's a little bit more expensive.
