This seems to be a big problem in India and other places where the cast system is still in use. I don´t know how well you know the Bible, but those who follow the principles written in this book are a lot happier than most others who don´t follow them. It shows that in the eyes of God Almighty, the only true God with the name YHWH, Yahweh or Jehovah, everyone is equal. Nobody is more worth than any other person. Peter, one of the diciples of Jesus, the son of God, once said: "...“I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. 35 In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right." Acts 10:34,35 True Christians do never treat anyone differently due to race, family, place of birth or any other origing they have. They are brothers and sisters. What do you think of these teachings of Jesus? "8 “Don’t let anyone call you ‘Rabbi,’ for you have only one teacher, and all of you are equal as brothers and sisters.[d] 9 And don’t address anyone here on earth as ‘Father,’ for only God in heaven is your spiritual Father. 10 And don’t let anyone call you ‘Teacher,’ for you have only one teacher, the Messiah. 11 The greatest among you must be a servant. 12 But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted." Please read this short story and tell me what you think of the way Jesus was treating a person who was not popular in the society they lived in: http://www.watchtower.org/e/my/article_90.htm If everyone followed the Bible, we would not have wars or hatred or any casts or other things that separate us. One day it will be complete peace on the earth when God will clean away all wickedness from the earth and give eternal life to those who follow his laws of love. That time is not far away.

We don't have a cast system where I live, in the U.S., although we all belong to different CLASSES - including lower class (very poor), middle class (what more people are) and upper class. I guess some parents of an upper class girl might not like their daughter dating someone from the poverty lines/lower class, but I feel like the 'class' system in the U.S. is based upon how much money you make, you don't always get born into it - some people fight to become part of the higher class. I don't think there's anything you can do, except hope that one day her parents will see you for what you are - a human being like the rest of us, and probably a good guy!

I don't understand the problem. If you love eachother truely you will find a way. Then cast, religion, culture, age difference or education doesn't play any role. As long as you (both) don't understand that, there is no reason to start a relationship at all.

We don't have a cast system here but it seems like it is a very important part of your country. I feel that humanity should be above all and the cast of a person should not matter. We are all human beings. As for you and your gf, if you truly love each other than the cast, age, money or any other difference should not matter for you both to be together...

I am from India as well and very well understand your position. I feel all these stuff quite ridiculous. I have numerous friends of mine from lower caste. I love being with them. I have never thought about which caste they belonged to. It was only the matter of time when I came to know there caste. But still there was no change in me. I also saw same attitude as mine of all my other classmates. I hope that you will get better friends who do not have any intentions of discrimination.

I feel sad about it especially for you sourabharoy but don't let it be a hindrance in your relationship. I believe that it is love that binds a relationship regardless of race, age, cast and whatever there is. Just work hard to prove to you girlfriend's parents that you are worthy of her. Personally, I choose humanity over cast. Each one must have freedom beyond whatever cast they are in though I can't relate deeper since we don't have that system in our country. Nonetheless, I hope everything will turn out fine for you and your girlfriend.
