India has talent but the attitude is not professional...wonder why?

Indian cricket has always had amazingly talented players and the only country that churns out more talented players is Pakistan. I noticed something over the years. When an Indian batsman is approaching a hundred he becomes very cautious, irrespective of the state of the game and when it happens generally every Indian supports the decision of the batsman to play safe, almost justifying the caution. I was surprised when recently a young Indian batsman who was simply blazing away decided to be cautious and after reaching his hundred started to lash out again. You also have someone who on nearing a century tries to reach it with a six each and every time. Have you wondered why? In contrast you have an Australian having scored a triple century, with a realistic chance of overhauling Lara's world record score and beating the Don's score, deciding to declare and go for a win instead even though the series win has already been sealed. If cricket is team sport why is the team management not addressing this issue of lack of professionalism? Why is the individual greater than the game or the nation. what will happen if you get out because of excessive caution or lose your focus because you choose to celebrate after reaching a personal landmark and get out. This attitude is responsible for the lack of killer instinct and lack of respect from the opposition. When you play Australia you know you are playing a tough team but when you play India you know you are playing a bunch of talented individuals who are not necessarily united and working towards a common goal. When will Indians play for the country first and themselves next?

There is something wrong with our genes. We compete within team. Unlike us, they compete with others. :)

Even if the team is in a tense situation and needs a few lusty blows to get near the target our man will slow down, get his century and then try to get to the target and no one seems to mind. That is amazing and beyond comprehension

yeah Indian team is full of talent but i think due to IPL they are not interested in playing one days and Test matches.because in IPL they get huge money but the work is not so hard.and one thing more the new Coach of Indian team is also not good and he is fail to control the outcome and he failed in motivating Indian players.sometimes i feel India don't need any coach because they are very talented.

I think the problem with Indian team is that they do not allow players to play outside India. I think if you allow players to play in domestic cricket outside India they will get used to the track and also to the pitch and also share the dressing room. For example, Suresh Raina is not picked for test team, so allow him to play Big Bash he will probably able to get used to the track in Australia and will be ready for the ODI series. I would suggest picking three different team for ODI, test, and 20/20 matches with two or three players in common for two formats and rest the players and rotate the players in three format and send the players to play in different county in different countries, get use to the pitches in different countries and I think this will makes them professionals.
