Yesterday I walked into the bathroom at work and noticed some guy standing at a urinal texting with one hand while he ...
There are somethings that are just wrong. Mylotters lets try and make a list of all the places and situations that you've seen or heard of where the cellphone should just stay in your pocket. I'm sure we can come up with a massive list. This is one of my pet peeves by the way. Cellphones are great tools but they've become too much sometimes. I used to do cellphone customer care for a major US carrier so I'm doubting you'll come up with too many things I haven't already heard of.

Well i use my phone all the time but when its time to put it down i now when that time is and i do it. I can name off a few things that phones should be cut off:
* When your checking out at a store stay off yor phone. Its so not nice when the cashier is talking to you and all you can do is nod your head or talk in a low voice where they are not able to hear you.
* While driving. I have done this a time or two but when you are sitting at a stop light and it is red keep an eye on it. I have had to honk my horn at people cause they just sit there on there phone. I have never had anyone honk at me cause i do try and keep an eye on the stop lights.
* At a funneral. People just do not now how disrespectful it is to be sitting in the middle of a funneral and look over and see someone texting or surfing the internet.
That is all i can think of right now but im sure more will come up and i will come back and post some more. Thanks have a great night. And happy discussion time. I hope everyone can keep this discussion going. I like this one.

I hate when the people around me in the library are using their cell phone. It is amazing how much privileged information you can hear. I overheard a legal assistant doing research and talking about cases in the library.

I sometimes wonder if these people think that when they are talking on the phone somehow nobody can here them. I've seen a guy in the grocery store arguing with his wife on the phone very loudly about the family menu and budget. Library is definitely a place I would consider out of bounds for the cell phone.

In the bathroom! I know I have texted someone while pee-ing before, but it's a little different when you are in the privacy of your own stall. If I was a dude, I wouldn't want to do that. Imagine how germy that cell phone must be!
. I don't like TALKING on the phone while I'm driving, while I'm checking out at a store, at work, pumping gas, etc. I generally text whenever though. In normal places that is. Although I was talking to my friend who was telling me he was taking a BATH the other day when he and I were texting back and forth.
. I asked him, so you were washing yourself with one hand and texting me with the other? GROSS!
. Some places are just not meant for multi-tasking. Ha ha. Happy MyLotting!

Aside from the gross factor, using the cellphone when there is risk of liquid damage isn't too bright. If the phones gets wet and stops working, warranties won't cover it. Better have phone insurance in that case.

I've heard a lot of people talking on their phones while in the bathroom stalls. It's a little weird. Can't you wait a couple minutes?
I work as a cashier at a store and I have to admit that I also hate when my customer walks up to the register and she's on her phone. I find it a little rude.

I honestly think that multi-tasking in the bathroom this way is gross. I can understand going into an empty bathroom to make a private call for privacy sake but don't call while you're attending to other business in there. Wash your hands after using the bathroom. Can't really wash the phone now can you?

Well I will add that people should never be using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle, as this distraction can cause accidents. Its also not a good idea to be using a cell phone while walking down the sidewalk or riding a bicycle because a person might be so involved in their conversation that they don't realize and walk into the path of a car. The last one is not dangerous, but annoys me. It drives me crazy when people are on the cell phone while paying for something at a store. This is rude to the other customers waiting in the line, as well as to the cashier.

I can identify four broad categories: Dangerous, rude, stupid and gross. Driving, walking and riding a bike using a cellphone definitely ranks as dangerous. Here using a cellphone while driving is against the law. A lot of people still do it though. I work customer service and I constantly have customers applying for a credit card over the phone while driving. Stupid is when people use it on company time for personal use or at school. Good way to get yourself in trouble. I'll leave the other two for other people to fill in if they care to.

There are in fact quite number of places when no one should be using cell phones. But who would realize this...youngsters run hectic with cell phones stick to their ear most often not knowing how detrimental it is to their health in course of time.It is time the authorities impose strict user restrictions of the mobile handsets in improper situations.

I'm glad that in my country it is now illegal to drive and use a cellphone in all provinces. Took them long enough to figure that one out.

It really annoys me when people doesn't seem to care where they are as long as they are using their cellphone. There was this guy who were actually go across the street. It's already in a go signal and cars are starting to honk but he doesn't seem to care. He didn't even bother to look or walk faster.

Thankfully most people still care enough not to just run him over. Hopefully he'll learn before someone using one driving comes along.

Some cellphone users just can't leave their gadgets for a minute, they are too much in love with this particular electronic gadget (cellphone) they ever own in their life. I can't never understand the logic behind it, may be cellphone is highly addictive product to certain people.

Never in my life have I done such a thing. I once saw a man talking on a cellphone when doing this too. He raised one of his shoulder to press the phone to his ear and his two hands doing their work.....you know what I mean.

It's just so - unsanitary. If he washed his hands when he finished I really doubt he washed his phone at the same time.

Well, I definitely hate it when my students use cellphone in the class during the lesson. I teach in an English Center and I have had these kids since around 2009. After a month teaching them, I made a rule which they must obey. Before the lesson started, I would go around, put their cellphones into a pocket and took them out of the class. This habit continues until now. :) And then, what annoys me more is when someone uses the cellphone during a meeting. Of course that's really annoying. Then I have ever seen someone drives the motorbike while texting. Ok, I sometimes do this too, but only when it is really important and I can't make any stop. And lately I put my cellphone in the bag while I'm driving my bike so I won't be bothered. Besides, I still want to live longer. Lol.

School classrooms are definitely places where you should not be using your cellphone. It can be distracting for the class hearing them ring or have someone suddenly no longer paying attention to the lesson and taking a call. Meetings are another place they should be turned off.

I have found that cellular phone becomes too much like the fashion, hopefully it is a fad that won't last. I mean how many phone do you need in life.It can be usefull for some people ( business) but now it is just any Joe blow that has one.

I don't really argue with the concept of everyone having one. They do have good purposes and they do carry a great deal of convenience. Unfortunately some people don't seem to be able to control their usage. They use it when they shouldn't. They also use it more than they should. I worked in customer service for a cellphone company for a time and you wouldn't believe how many people ruin themselves financial by how they use their cellphone. Especially young people.

I would question some company marketing techniques but we can hardly blame cellphone companies for our own stupidity.

One of my pet peeves is when an individual, especially a driver driving a car, answers a call or makes a call while he is driving. This is absolutely stupid as well as unsafe. We all know what the numbers say as far as deaths happening due to mobile usage are concerned.
Furthermore, why would any person be so stupid as to talk on his mobile while crossing the railway tracks?? Don't they have any brains??!!! Anyway, in this country there are tonnes of accidents happening at railway stations or metro stations.

Maybe there should be a cellphone education course people should required to take before they buy one. People get killed doing the dangerous things that you've mentioned all the time. The British made a public service texting and driving clip that I don't know where to find right now that really brought the lesson home. It's on the Internet here somewhere.
