Finally! Some GOOD news!!!!

My son just found out that he's going to be a daddy to a little girl!!! Yippee!!!! Okay, let me start from the beginning. I wanted a little girl when my family was growing but I got two boys. Not that I'm complaining! I love my sons and wouldn't have traded them for the world. But, once I decided that I didn't want any more kids of my own, I told my sons that I was putting in my order early for a granddaughter. That must have been at least 15 years ago when I started saying that. In all those years, no grandkids. Then, just before Christmas, my oldest son and his partner announced that I was going to be a grandmother. I was ecstatic!!! Naturally, I started noticing all the baby things in all the stores I shop in and, of course, I've bought a few things. (Okay, maybe about 20 so far.) I saw the most adorable newborn dresses and HAD to get two of them. One says "Daddy's Girl". I figured that, if it turned out that they were going to have a boy, I could always hang on to the baby girl things for later or give them to someone with a new baby girl. Still, I hoped that by my buying little girl things, it would give me better odds. LOL (Yeah, yeah, you have to be superstitious to believe that but I'd try almost anything to get a granddaughter. ) I would be just as happy with a grandson but having a new little girl in the family would be that much more special. My son just called me to give me the news of the sonogram they just had today. It's a girl!!!! I don't know who was more excited, me, my son or his partner. I could hear her in the background squealing (in a happy way) because she was so excited. She already has a little boy (former marriage) and she was hoping for a girl this time, too. My son was also hoping for a daughter. This news more than makes up for all the crappy stuff I've been going through lately. I just had an MRI on my shoulder and will find out next Tuesday when I'll be scheduled for yet another surgery, a leaf mulcher/shredder I JUST got burned up today and my kitty is very sick and will probably be going to live with all those who've crossed over the Rainbow Bridge very soon. So, learning that I'm going to have a healthy little granddaughter on or about August 1st has put a HUGE smile on my face. It makes everything else seem a little easier to bear. Does anyone else have recent good news?

no good news i can think of. im really glad for you though. my aunt who had all boys really loved it when i had a girl she could buy for. its so much more fun to buy little girly dresses and toys for us women. i seen your announcment on FB. Did you see about my aunt? my oldest daughter was the first girl to get to call her grandma. even though she was her great aunt. she liked that.

I wish I could make things better for you, Bonnie. I know what you're going through. Yes, I know about your aunt and know the pain you're going through because I went through the same thing with my mother. I'm also very sorry that your son had to make that phone call to you when he was stupid drunk. Drunks should NEVER have access to phones or the internet! But, you know that you have a pretty terrific family here and we love you! If you'd like my email and need another shoulder to lean on, just say the word. My good news has been dampered a bit today because my kitty is going over the Rainbow Bridge today at 3:00. He's not eating at all now and not moving. This morning was the first morning since he got sick that he didn't even raise his head when I walked in the room. It's time. I'll be no good for awhile afterward. I've already been crying my eyes out just thinking about what's coming this afternoon but it's for the best and he'll be out of his misery. It just won't be the same when I'm outside in my garden or fishing because he's been with me every single time for the past 5 years. He's been the best furry buddy I've ever had but it's time to let him go.

I've had some GREAT news... It's just not a GREAT as yours!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! I don't know if you remember my discussion on tankless water heaters or not; but I found out that there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with my current water heater!!! As it turns out, a friend who was doing some work around my house decided I had my tank set too hot & he lowered it without telling me. So, my lukewarm water was because the regulator was set way too low. All that was done was turn up the regulator & voila...I now have really HOT water & can go back to my long, relaxing, HOT showers!!! Since it is impossible for me to become a grandmother, I'm perfectly happy to be THRILLED over something as small as having HOT water once again!!!

How exciting. Congratulations. Seems putting in your order around 15 yrs. ago for a little girl worked. That's terrific. Our daughter is due to have another baby in about a week or so. I'm beyond excited.

I am anxious and the pins and needles are sticking me pretty good...lol I wasn't as nervous when our daughter had the first baby but this one is more intense. Maybe because I'll be the g-ma to take care of their 3 1/2 yr. old. Enjoy dreaming, thinking and breathing being a grandma. It's just so much fun.

Oh, wow! I can imagine how excited you are! Any moment you could get word that the baby's arrival should be any time now. I'd be on pins and needles! Congratulations!!! You know, it was really funny how this worked out. I was in Goodwill, just looking around to see if they had anything interesting when I spotted a brand new, still in it's original package, onsie that said "I don't need Santa, I have grandma!" and I thought it was so cute I bought it thinking that, HOPEFULLY, I'd have a grandchild to wear it before too long. Not two weeks later my son announced that they were going to have a baby. So, I started concentrating on little girl stuff and it worked! LOL

How cool that your son wanted a little girl too. I always thought most guys wanted a son. My dad wanted a boy, but he got two little girls. He of course says he wouldn't trade us for the world, but I know he wanted a boy. I'm hoping when my sister has kids (she's married so she gets that job, not me. I'm single and he shouldn't expect me to pop any out.) that she'll give him a grandson. He deserves something to brighten his days. You are going to be great for a granddaughter! I think it must be more fun to shop for a little girl than a little boy.

Oh, as for good news. My rent went up by 70 dollars starting this month (that's bad), but a very generous someone gave me money to cover the increase this month and next month (that's great).

Awesome news, Hatley! Congratulations to you, too!!! Losing weight, controlling your blood sugars AND finding out your hand problem is just carpal tunnel syndrome is FANTABULOUS!!! Now, if they only had a way to turn back time, huh? I'll let you know if I hear they've made a breakthrough in that direction and we can go stand in line together. My son, the daddy-to-be, was due at the end of July but he was a bit too eager and arrived at the end of June but still that was a great time. My youngest son was born at the end of January and I had to bundle him up every time I took him out. I really loved just picking up my first son and going when he was born, no bundling. lol My son's partner's son (who is four) was born on August 5th so there's a chance that the two of them will share a birthday. I hope not but you never know.

Yeah, it is. Life goes in cycles, though. Some times it's almost all good, then it's almost all bad. I had a cortisone shot last month in my shoulder but it didn't go any good at all. I'm going in tomorrow for a second shot but already have an appointment next week with the spine surgeon who operated on my neck 1 1/2 years ago. This guy giving me the shots doesn't do spines but said that I have definite impingement in my neck (yeah, again) and that could be causing the majority of my shoulder pain which is why I made the appointment with the spine surgeon. I do have a torn rotator cuff, bursitis and arthritis in my shoulder but it shouldn't be causing this much pain. Knowing me, I'll need surgery in both my neck and shoulder. I'll know a bit more by next week (Wednesday). Sigh.

I'm so happy for you!! I don't know if I told you but I'm going to be a first-time grandmother in September! We don't know if it's a girl or a boy and like you, I'll be thrilled with either, but as the mother of two boys myself I would love to have a little girl to dress up and spoil. Of course, I'll have to learn to play with dolls and stuff but it's a small price to pay. I'll be moving back to AZ to help. After all, free child care is better than the alternative, right? And they are really struggling. It'll be great to have a child in the house again! I'll miss the Midwest but at least the family will be all together, ex-husband and all. Funny thing is that my son was born in the year of the dragon and his child will be, too...if you also have that coincidence it'll be just too much!

Hi Dragon. I know you'll miss your current home but wow! To be there to help with the new addition is so awesome. I honestly can't think of another person who has moved such a distance to help with a new baby. Your son is a lucky fellow to have such an awesome mom. I know you're going to love caring for the baby. I'm super excited, too. My wish would be that we could find a house big enough for all of us to live together but have enough space to not get on each other's nerves. (His partner is another Aries and is, well, my son's word was "pushy". Good for my son, though. He's a Cancer and needs someone pushing him. ) You know, I don't think I ever looked up my Chinese year before. I just did and it says I was born in the year of the dragon! 1952. So, according to that, my granddaughter and I will both be Dragons! Not only that but I found this: THE WATER DRAGON 1952 AND 2012 Water has a calming effect on the Dragon's fearless temperament. Water allows the Dragon to re-direct its enthusiasm, and makes him more perceptive of others. These Dragons are better equipped to take a step back to re-evaluate a situation because they understand the art of patience and do not desire the spotlight like other Dragons. Therefore, they make smart decisions and are able to see eye-to-eye with other people. However, their actions can go wrong if they do not research or if they do not finish one project before starting another. We'll both be water dragons. Cool!!! My son is a rooster and his partner is a rabbit so the only two alike will be my granddaughter and myself. That's so awesome! Thanks for stirring my curiosity! Oh, and congratulations again on your impending grandparenthood. I can honestly say that I KNOW how excited you are. LOL

Hello mental ward. I am very happy for you for the GOOD news and want to congratulate you and of course your son for the good news. Every new life is a ray of hope for all of us and a beacon of light in our time of darkness. Recent good news in my part is that I will be getting married with my girlfriend at the legal council this summer :) Also we are taking the Cambridge exam next weekend and hope to get top grades as it was quite expensive to take.

Congrats!!! Ittsy bittsy teeny weeny cutie pattotie girls must be in the water. My daughter is having on the end of June/first of July! I have to be honest that I was a little shocked by the news at first but I am so super excited now. It seems like a hundred years since I have had my hands on a baby. I often thought of having just one more myself but got over that pretty quick in a day or two. I have a stash of stuff for the baby already and am very excited about her coming. I felt her move last night when my daughter came to visit and of course I told her how ready I was for her to be here.

Hi and Congrats! Bet you can't wait for that little bundle to arrive! I remember when I was pregnant with my son and after the news had sunk in, I made almost weekly 'pilgramages' to Goodwill. Why not--they outgrow it so fast. Do invest in music, books, and photo albums too! I remember talking with both my mom and my aunts about what through and we had more fun than I could remember! Also for some reason I felt quite nostalgic--to the point where I was listening to Simon and Garfunkel and the Muppets almost daily. There were a few times when I would put this music on for my son and he would just light up! May all go smoothly!

Congratulations! I offer onto you a BIG nice hug! *HUG* :D Thank you so much for sharing. My morning was bleh and hearing your excitement and happiness has made it lighter and heck, now I have a smile on my face. Thank you. A good news of mine is that I learned the meaning of love...even tough it's brought me sadness and lots of tears I don't regret the feelings and experiences I've felt up till now by falling in love for the first time. I used to think love was for losers and honestly didn't know what it meant..till I felt it myself. ? I love my sweetheart with all the defects and imperfections included... :) Even if we break up my sweetheart will always be special.

That is one great news! It is something to be joyful about. I guess regardless if it is a baby boy or a baby girl, it is still a good news because a new blessing in the family has come. I for one also had some kind of the same story to share. But it is not with my son but with mine. My husband and I was trying to have a second baby in the family. It has been 12 years since I got pregnant. But finally, I am pregnant now with my second child though we do not know the gender yet. But like I said regardless if its a boy or girl, we are still feel blessed.
