Which would you trust more, someone who claims to have religion in their life and shows just the opposite alot of the time, or someone who does not claim to believe in God and yet they seem more stable and loving than one who is a religious type? I have seen both sides of this and agree it's just depending on the person and doesn't even have anything to do with religion in MOST cases.

Sometimes I think that the word 'religion' is misunderstood and I wish there had been another word instead. Religion is in its plainest form a belief in something whether it be belief in God, belief in the devil, belief in arrogance, and so on. Even the word atheist, meaning a non believer, is a belief in that the person does not believe in God and that he exists. When one states that someone should have more religion in their life, how are they the judge of what is acceptable or not, or what is right and wrong? There is an arrogance amongst some people. A good religion, I believe, is being a humanitarian where you love all things good and reject those that are bad for you. You cannot say to someone: you don't believe in God? It is not anyone's concern what you believe. Strive to be good yourself.

Very mice response, thank you. I agree that religion should not ever be pushed on someone else. It has been on me and by a relative whose always saying derogatory things, she never raised us to be very, very religious so how the heck does she think we should be more religious. Crazy. I have religious views of my own.

There's a saying that you must never tamper with someone's beliefs or you had better have a big net under him. Religion is personal and should be of your own choice. But as we all know we are born to parents, they teach us what they believe, and so we grow up and either make our own choices or remain in the faith we were born in. It is perfectly all right to make your own choice. You are not abandoning God; you are seeking to become closer. As long as you believe in a higher power and that you are always protected by God, you will be protected.

I would really trust the person that doesn't believe. Because at least they are upfront and honest. There are many hypocrites throughout each and every religions. Those who I'm sure those who do honestly believe and follow the religions are more frustrated and disgusted with them I am, but they are just all going to cast right in the worst possible light. There are just times where people tend to use religion to try and make themselves more credible.
It is a mask for sure in some cases. There are times where people say one thing and rather do anything. If there is someone who doesn't believe, but their life seems rather full, then obviously what they are doing is working for them. They don't try and prop up some belief that they obviously don't believe in to really try and make themselves be far more credible then they really are. There are just many masks in the world, with people wearing them, to try and trick those into believing that they are something that they are not.

Personally I would be more inclined to trust the person who makes no claims about their beliefs, but demonstrats their character through their actions. Anybody can make claims about whatever they choose, but it is how they live their life that really matters. I judge people by their character.

I don't believe religion people anymore. They show day after day that they only care about those who are/believe exactly the same as they do. They kill in name of god, think their god is the best and preach what they don't practise at all. Many time they are also showing too less activity to improve their own life. Just sitting and praying and hoping and blaming god won't help.
What also wonders me time after time is their lack of feeling of trust and happiness that everything will be allright or is fine the way it is. If you really believe you should be a shining person, with non stop faith and happy because of that faith.
I also don't believe people who say: you can trust me because.. or I am better because I am a christian, etc..
Only people with low self esteem say this time after time. If you really are such a person you don't feel the need to say it, then you will show it and people around you will see it too!
Never trust anyone who has to repeat each time they are great, can be trust, are different, etc.. esp. not if they also start to whisper.
