I have a friend who's working in the fashion industry here in Philippines. She inspired me these days! She's not that pretty and not totally ugly, actually, no one is! She's not that tall. She's not photogenic but guess what? She doesn't give a sh*t to anyone talking behind her back. She have heard a lot of stories about her. Others say she doesn't fit in the fashion industry because she doesn't have the look. And she answered it this way: I may not have the looks, but I am pretty sure that I have the talent and that's the important thing. She told me, I shouldn't get affected of what others say about what I'm wearing, how do I walk and etc. What matters most is how you look at yourself. Everyone of us may not be as beautiful as Victoria Secret's models but if we believe we are, then, we are! :) Okay? You are beautiful! Each one of you out there reading this! Sharing some positive thoughts. Love you all!

I love you for sharing this story. Even if you are bald or carrot-topped, are dressed in the nines or in dirty rags, or walk in Swarovski-studded heels or in shoes with holes, everyone is beautiful. I too believe that true beauty is inside us and how we contribute to the world is more important than worrying about clothes from the thrift store or some store in the mall.

Awww! Thanks talfonso! Anything we wear, if we are confident and comfortable with it then we are beautiful. To hell with those backstabbers!

Dear friend, how can you see me in photography, I am absolutely the antithesis of the beautiful people. I do not have own beauty! However as you said in your discussion, I can avail of other various talents that maybe could get a step ahead of the others. For example my intelligence, I know how to better use. My discrete skills in computing and electronics (where I graduated), etc.. So, let us reflect not only to the external appearance of the person. Let's look inside all of us. Something positive, by doing so we can all find.

Im sure your friend is somebody and not no one at all.. I mean everybody have their own beauty.. and shes right why would you use your time thinking of those haters of yours.. use them as inspiration.. I do like to envy those people who are naturally envious of what others have and couldnt really be contented on what they have.. I do enjoy giving them the pleasure to talk about me..haha because I just dont care..

Yes, giving them something to talk about! :) HAHAHA! She doesn't consider herself someone at all. She said she's just one of those average girls who is confident of herself whatever she decided to wear and if you can handle it, she doesn't care! HAHAHAHA! Such a strong woman, right?

Thats the spirit we will only live once so why not do everything you dont wanna miss..haha.. and besides if you wont be strong now a days.. you would be surrounded by takers!! and you dont want that to happen.. when it comes to dress as long as i am comfortable wearing it i dont really care what others will say.. coz i know i could rock it..and they dont

I am very much inspired by this discussion. The mindset of a person is indeed important to make her beautiful. Confidence can give us this aura which makes us better to look at. I wonder how that is even possible. It just is. So now I am going to wear something I think is pretty and tell the whole world that I AM BEAUTIFUL, inside and out.

Hi edss I agree with you, I have a beauty and fashion blog as well, but no I am not that kikay and beautiful in person, and I am not that fashionable at times. I also heard some side comment about what I wear but I just ignored it though it hurts but well I didn't ask them a money for me to buy things

HAHAHAHA! I actually got affected before, but I have manage to train myself not to get hurt.

I also believe that physical appearance is not a big factor to be on top. I believe that it is on our own skills, abilities, attitudes, talents, and mentality to be on top. I also think that we should all posses Self-Esteem or Confidence. You should tell yourself that you are nobody but you are great.

my hus bands c redo I like myself, I am unique no one else like me. I love myself. I am Patsie. I am somebody. this worked for me as I had had no self esteem then got to feeling good about me and i liked myself. soon people told me "what did you do to yourself? you look so pretty." and they meant it. all I did was finally get some self esteem.

Yes, that it is true chibiyu! We are our own judge! I mean, if we just believe we are good, no, not good, BEST, then, we can go on with our plans. One of it is believing that we are beautiful just the way we are.

There is a song that I remember from a commercial when I was younger. It goes "everyone is beautiful in their own way", it's an actual song and not just a commercial jingle. Anyway, it's true. We are beautiful in our own way, and everyone be damned, it doesn't matter what others think but how we view ourselves.

I can relate! This happened to me before too! I could still remember how it feels to have many haters. It really hurts when you are walking, and there are eyes around staring at you, then you hear their gossips, and all the negative adjectives coming from their mouths. But every girl is beautiful no matter what people tells her. She just have to find it out. :-) Stay beautiful, Sis!

Being able to accept who you are physically and knowing how you feel and what you feel would probably reflect the personality within you would somehow emit a certain positive aura of the inner beauty within us. Beauty should not be skin deep, but rather within that captivates one's fascination and admiration.

Hey there :) Is your friend a model? Well if she is, the scout must have seen some potential in her and that is why she is there right. And I absolutely love your friend's self confidence and I do also believe all the things she said were true! I mean we shouldn't give a rats a** to whatever others say! But there have been times when I have thought too much of what the other person would think and have lost quiet a few opportunities myself. never will i be so naive and repeat them mistakes again :)

Definitely. No matter what other people said. It's none of your business. The more they talk about you, the more they prove to you that they're senseless. Believe only in yourself. Trust only in yourself.

I am so proud of your friend. Despite of all those bad things whom people are talking behind her back, she stays strong. I know it isn't that easy. But she doesn't let herself be down because of those people who doesn't have anything to do right. Let them be until they get tire of it. I am also like your friend. I don't waste my time on that because I know it will not help me. I don't care what they will say. I do what I want to do not minding what they will say about me.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some people look beautiful because they have a gantle soul. So beauty is not always external.

Hello friend, I would also stick on to what your friend told you. I am a person who doesn't love to wear the latest trendy wears and I am not at all someone who goes behind fashion.I always wear what I am comfortable with and most of the times it is just the ethnic dresses that I wear. In a place where I live, people are all fashionable people and they all wear a lot of western and trendy fancy clothes. Few of them tend to look me down upon. But I just don't care. I am the way I am and I will seldom change myself for a 3rd person. I cannot wear something that I am not comfortable with and doesn't like just for the sake of the people who speak behind me. Let me tell you something friend, the world will speak if you are good, they will speak if you are not good, either ways, they won't stop speaking. So, it is always wise to stop thinking about what others think and say and be the way we are. It is important that we are confident about ourselves. I am sure one day your friend will emerge as a top model. Her confidence and belief on her talent will take her a long way! :)

Hi there Edsss17! That's a very nice attitude. Not actually a "nice" one but one that is nice to have. It will keep you away from negative vibes even when it presents itself in different situations. I think it is not necessary that you conform to what everyone think you should be like but it's better to be unique and make a difference.

Yes, I get what you mean! :) In this generation, most young women only think of physical beauty but actually, some are emotionally damage. And, to repair that damage, they tend to make themselves beautiful even though they already are beautiful. They just didn't discover it. Evey girl doesn't need to wear lots of make-up in their face, what they have naturally is more than enough! I got carried away and I know that my comment is far from what you have respond. Apologies for that!

Everyone does have an inner beauty no matter how ugly they may be on the outside. What is important is how you look at yourself. Your friend is right! If everyone would start looking at themselves in that way, the beauty industry would go broke and that is something they don't want so they keep fighting hard to convince girls that they need to be rail thin and that just isn't right or healthy. Thanks for sharing this!

that's a nice train of thoughts. you know i can understand how difficult it is to be treated indifferently simply because you do not look as neat as the acceptable "standards" of the society. when you are overly fat, you get different treatment compared to those who are slim and sexy. darn. haha

It is true, what's important is what you think about yourself. I usually don't think about what others think but sometimes they can really get to your nerves. Some people don't have any problems voicing out what they think, and sometimes this could get really irritating. All you can think about is bashing their heads in and everything. These are the times when you really wanna get a hold of yourself and learn how to attain a peace of mind. I'm getting there, but sometimes it's really hard to get a grip, and I really want to explode in their faces with a thousand fists.

I feel you with that. There are people that no matter how patient you get, there are some who doesn't care whether you are hurt or not. They are getting freaky at times, but I learned to let what they say just pass from my ear to another! :) Before, I just cry. But now, hell no!

Well, yes your friend got a point and she is honestly true to herself at least she is not a pretender at all she just know to herself that she have what it takes. Wow! This also inspires me in different manner. Well, I really mean that I dont have a talent and I am just beautiful. ha ha confident!! but I care what other people say about me. I just let them down me whenever but I realize that I should ignore them because it is much better.
