It was beautiful out today around 60 degrees. I have put on 17 lbs over the winter and want to get toned up. I took a walk over town with my son today. He sat in the stroller most of the time and it was weighed down with drinks and books and things like that. I stopped at the store and picked up bread. Got my daughter a present at the dollar general for losing her homework. Bought my son and daughter a candy bar and went to the library. We then walked back home. This whole thing took about 2 hours. I dont feel tired from it even though it was a lot of steep hills. I feel good. My lungs were hurting while I was walking and my ribs kept cramping up but if I do this each day that its nice out my body will get back in shape again.

That is very good to do everyday. I try to take a wok everyday. I do want to start walking in the morning and the evening as well. Believe me, if you eat right and walk, you will lose that extra weight. But never exercise right out of the starting gate. Always walk for a while fist. Then start of easy. Good luck getting in shape. I need a lot of help.

In the summer I usually walk for a few hours each day or at least a few times a week. It is so relaxing for me. I think it helps not only my body but my mind as well. There is just something about getting out and walking in nice weather that does me so much good. I havent had time to walk that much again. Tomorrow I will be walking for about an hour or two if the weather is nice. I have to drop my van off at the garage to see if it will pass inspection then I will take a little walk with my son in the stroller and walk home. Then afterwards I will have to walk back down and get it. I will probably be quite tired after that.

Thats good that you walk everyday. It is always good and especially in the nice weather. I was outside today. I even went into the yard. There was an old wagon that my kids had, it was totally filthy and disgusting. But I took the wheels off because my son might want to make a go cart. I will get to cleaning the years and getting it ready this week.

aww what an awesome idea to save the old wagon in case your son wants to make a go cart. I have no idea how to make one but that would be an awesome thing for father and son to make together and I am sure he will love it. My father bought a go-kart at walmart years ago and my kids love to ride in it with him. Its a two seater one.

hi there, when i was in college i would walk everyday to school and then i would stand for 8 hours during our duty in the hospital. i was used to it. but when i graduated, i got too lazy and i just stay at home and in bed most of the time. and then now i get tired easily because i haven't been active. 2 weeks ago, my boyfriend and i went to Hong Kong. it was our first time and so we would get lost. we walked and ran from morning to evening and my gosh, i was so tired but my boyfriend just keeps gong hehehe he doesn't get tired right away because he used to it. he walks and jogs almost everyday going to work in New York. and it was winter in Hong Kong too and it was hard for me because i am not used to that kind of climate because i live in a tropical country. yeah if we do this everyday and be active, we wont be tired easily. i am actually looking forward to more adventures like that again

That sounds like so much fun your visit to Hong Kong. I would love to do something like that. I love to walk but it can be very tiring especially pushing my son and the things we need while on our walk in the stroller. We have a lot of big hills I have to push him up while on our walks. The weather has dropped down to the 40s today. I am hoping it will warm up again soon so I can get out and walk.

One of my favorite things about the spring is the fact that we are able to get out and enjoy the weather and exercise when the weather breaks after the end of the winter. For us, it has been unseasonably warm and because of that we've been able to be outside a lot even through the winter. However, I have to admit that the thing that I'm looking the most forward to is getting my bike out and riding after not having ridden for a while.

I would love to be able to ride my bike. I havent been able to in years. There is no where safe around here to ride a bike and with having to take my kids with me if I rode my bike while they ride their bikes it would be hard to keep an eye on them because we cannot ride them on the track at the school where it would be perfect. Everytime I rode a bike though I would get a urinary tract infection. So although its amazing exercise I dont think it would be good for me because of the uti problems.

Last summer, me and the kids got into hiking. We went through some of the trails near here which were 2 or 3 hours long. The first few times, the kids complained, but after a while they also started to enjoy it. I think we will do the same again this year. I too experienced the hurt feeling in the lungs, but I think it's all good. Loosing a few pounds isn't bad either!

The kids and I love hiking the trails we try to find different places to go in the summer its a lot of fun. I take a long a backpack filled with snacks and drinks and of course I have to take my camera along. We all really enjoy it. It sure tires me out later that night but its a good feeling and makes for a relaxing day.

I think you can keep going with your walking practice regularly on all days. Really it helps us a lot. It helps us to maintain a good proper health. I hope you will continue this. You feel hurting yourself and all other hings before you was doing them for the first time. Regular practices help you to get away from them.

I love to walk but pushing my so in a stroller up all the hills around here is really exhausting. The weather hasent bee warm emough for me to want to go out and walk. During the summer with my daughter home from school I wont be able to walk for an hour or more because its to tiring for her. I just bought an exercise bike so I can work out on there and get some exercise even on days when its cold or rainy out :)

I worry about you saying your lungs and ribs were hurting, but overall it is good to get out and have that excersize. There is an easy way and a hard way to loose wieght. I am thinking walking is one of the easier ones. I chose to do it through eating less sugar and fat and an excersize bike and that bike almost killed my legs. I'm not going to go through that way again, I'd rather start walking again. I'm glad now you don't feel tired from it. Thats a good sign. I might try and get a slower start then gradually move up to longer walks if possible.

I am just so out of shape. I might have always been thin but not fit if that makes sense I mean I dont really do anything. At night I just sit for hours on the computer and then go to bed. In the winter time I just dont do anything. In the summer the kids and I are usually outside all day. I have asthma that flares up when I exercise and since I was going up all those steep hills it was causing my asthma to kick in and make my chest hurt.

About a month ago I actually bought an exercise bike but it doesnt hurt my body when I use it. I rode 24 miles on it and didnt really much difference or pain in my muscles. But I was sweaty and my heart was beating so I know I was getting some good exercise. I wish I had more time to walk because I do enjoy it. School is out tomorrow so my daughter will be home and I wont be able to take long walks for a few months.

I love the warm weather it makes me feel so good. It is supposed to get up to 75 here today I think. Right now at just after 1 it is almost 70 degrees. I had to drop my van off downtown and walk back it was about a mile. My son wants to go to the park so I will be walking down there and back and that will be about a mile as well. If I have to go pick up the van later after it gets inspected it will be a mile walk back down there to get it. I will be tired tonight but I love the exercise.

Sounds like a nice walk. It has been very warm here for the past few days. There have been some storms to deal with but I think the weekend is going to be super nice. We talked about going hiking for a while. I love hiking in the Spring and Summer.

Hiking trails is one of my favorite thing to do in the spring and summer as well. I always take a long my camera and a bag with food and drinks. With 2 little kids that is a must as well as lots of breaks to sit and rest. Yesterday for Saint Patricks day it was about 70. We all had dinner outside and the kids played it was so nice.

It was beautiful here too - 70 degrees in Minnesota and sunny. I would go out for a walk but I'm super lazy feeling right now. Good for you for going on a walk though... I'm sure I have put on weight - I just haven't checked the scale in a while. I think I will start working out and NOT checking the scale, you know, just because that might depress me. . Good luck on your getting back into shape!

LOL well even if I didnt get on the scale I would know I put on a lot of weight because the other day when I went to get dressed the two pair of pants I usually alternate between were both dirty so I had to go up in the closet for another pair. Out of 24 pairs of pants that were in the closet that fit me in the summer time only 1 pair fit me still. Grr so lol I really need to exercise and get in shape so I can wear my clothes again comfortably.

Hiya SGN, Very hot here too much to be able to walk for very long and enjoy it there are no Trees or bushes or any kind of shade so it does not make for having a nice walk really. We are into the Countryside but all the trees are over the other side of the Road and its a very busy Road too. Over the road there is quite a big Dairy Farm and they have a huge grove of shady trees which give me a healthy envy just a bit anyway where you could walk and walk around not for miles of course but you could walk under the shade do gentle exercise and be much cooler and better for it. Have been for long walks with pushchairs and all the shopping in the back of the pushchair lol but that was in a bigger town and there you can be more motivated you see people more trees believe it or not and more flowers. xxx

Walking by far is a safe and moderate way of exercising, and fun too. I used to do long walks in the morning, just going to the market back and forth and just enjoying the walk by looking at people, flowers, trees and all other things that would caught my attention. Sometimes i would just bring my camera with me and just take candid shots of people along the way, and it was really fun.

I would tell you that keep this as a habit on a daily basis, if possible. Normally, none of us won't get a great deal of 2 hrs. a day, but atleast 0.5 hrs. will be good enough to walk and will keep ourselves healthy. I hope you all enjoyed the trip and make it happen most often. Thank-s

I dont work so I generally have time to walk with my son if he is willing and I have enough motivation for it. I have severe depression and most days I just lay on the couch all day. I'm struggling with this but I want to try walking at least a few hours a day a few days a week. It looks like its going to be gorgeous out so I'm going to drive down this one road that is an old railroad track and its flat so I am going to see how far I can walk. Maybe two hours one way and two hours back then take my son to the park for the rest of the day until my daughter gets home from school.

I believe there's nothing better for your health make walking. Possibly in the open air and away from urban pollution. So I think you did very well to do this walk. To be honest I do not like lots walking, often for move use public transport or car. I understand that I should start to think differently in this aspect. And probably sooner or later I will! You must not, in my opinion, worry too much for pain, it is normal for your muscles "grumble" especially after so long that they do not work. Then when you get home, you take a bath, and you feel completely new!

It was nice to get out in the fresh air. It makes me feel so metter better. It helps a lot with my depression. I love to walk it just is so calming I think even if it is strenuious walking and pushing a 35 lb kid in a stroller up all those hills lol. My calfs were a little sore when I was going up all the hills but that was all they arent bothering me now. The only problem was when my lungs were hurting and my chest and my ribs were like causing spasms and making it hard to breath. I'm sure the more I do this though my body will get used to it and I will be fine.

Got your daughter a present for losing her homework? I love exercise and do it every morning. Up one two, down one two....then the other sock.

Well we came to the conclusion that I lost her homework and since I think it may have been my fault and she being such a good student was very upset about it I felt so terrible. I had to get her a little something to show her how bad I felt and how much I love her. It made her really happy to get the present. LOL I dont think your getting much exercise just putting your socks on.

I had to stay up last night to watch a movie called "the lovely bones" I had borrowed it from the library and needed to watch it and return it so my son could borrow a movie today. So I stayed up until about midnight to watch this movie and so I am tired today. I had a hard time sleeping I was having bad dreams.

Guilt! It a terrible thing for making you dip into your pocket. Talking of dipping into pockets.....I thought you might be extremely tired after your jaunt and I was going to offer to make sure you were well tucked in bed. Or something similar sounding.
