How often do you ACTUALLY make your bed?

Ha ha, I am asking this because today, in between MyLot discussions of course, is the first time in about a WEEk that I have made my bed. I wish I could be the type of disciplined person to do this every morning, much like they do in the military (I hear). But unfortunately...I am lazy and tend to sleep on rumpled sheets/blankets without a care in the world. I know this is probably abnormal. How often do YOU make your bed? Every single morning, like clock work? Or do you find that you can't be bothered to do such a thing in the morning? . Happy MyLotting!

Every morning I pull the sheet and blanket up (nothing neat about it). Then I through the comforter up to cover the pillows. Bedspreads are out. If this is considered "making" a bed, yes I do!

I think the idea of "making" a bed comes from days gone by when there were dirt roads where the vehicles kicked up dust and trains ran on coal. There was plenty of dirt in the air. Don't forget the suit that came from the wood fired stoves back when women did spring cleaning. My mother did everything her mother did and she came from the farm and moved to the suburbs.

Hi maezee, It's funny because growing up and living at home I hated making the bed, it was a real chore back then. Now I think nothing of it and it's the very first thing I do after I get out of bed in the morning. It's simple to make mine; all that needs doing is to pull the duvet up, smooth it over with my hand and fluff up the pillow. It's done in a few seconds. It's a pet peeve of mine leaving a bed unmade. I find that it makes the bedroom look untidy!! IrishGal77 :)

I've always been so busy with things I LIKE doing (or working) that I learned to do "just enough" to get by on the things I was told I should do every day, like mkaing the bed. I never could understand why this was such an important thing to my mother when no one but ME ever saw my bed and it was just going to get messed up once I went back to bed. These days, because I suffer from fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, I take naps so my bed would only get messed up again in just a few hours after I woke up. Why bother? My energy is limited so I use it on things more important to me. My husband and I sleep in different bedrooms because he snores extremely loudly, has sleep apnea and refuses to use his CPAP machine. I need what sleep I can get and, with him waking me up every night with that snoring, I had no choice but to sleep in another room. So, it's still only me who sees my bed (even though my husband has never made a bed in his life except for when we were dating and he was trying to impress me ). I certainly don't consider myself lazy! Even on days when I'm hurting really bad I still do more than most others my age. I just decide which things are more important to spend my energy on. So, don't call yourself lazy -- you just have more important things to do.

Since I like to sleep in a nice, neat bed,I make my bed every morning, the only exception being ,when my back pain,or sciatica is acting up!Once you develop a routine,it is very easy!

I actually hate seeing my bed covers in disarray that's why I make it a point to make my bed every morning. But there are days where I don't care if my bed is not made. These are the days where I am so tired coming home from work, or if I don't feel well. I love to see my bed neat, that's why I make it a point to tidy it up when I wake up in the morning.

Making my bed is easy because there is only one cover and a sheet to worry about and it's just a matter of tidying up the pillows and pulling the sheet and the cover over the bed and tidying it up. It takes about 20 seconds. My wife doesn't like to have anything untidy especially our bed in case one of our friends come around and wants to see the house. It is always better to try and be a little bit tidy.. The rest of the house though is not so easy as we both are working all day and there is only a short amount of time during the evening and we just like to crash out in front of the TV then. _Derek

This is something instilled in me as a child. i could not go through the day with my bed nmade. When i see an unmade bed, I think of my mother and my grandmother. I can both hear their comments about how the bed should be made. Suffice it to say, I make my be bed every morning with a clear conscience.

Well, I was taught to make my bed every morning and clean it again before sleep at night. At least I'm still doing it until...around two years ago. Lol. Now I make my bed if I think it needs to be made and cleaned. :D Fortunately, I do it at least every two or three days. Or...I try to do it every day if my mom yells at me. Muahahaha! :D

Actually I am a very lazy man so as a result I do not make my own bed unless I put on new sheets.

I make my bed when I get out of it in the morning. I hate sleeping in a messy bed, and a made up bed makes the whole room look clean and fresh.

I make the bed every morning. Old habits are hard to break. I do use the bed to fold clean clothes and would prefer to have it tidy so I can find the clothes after they are folded.

Haha, My philosophy on bed making is "Why Make it all, since you are just going to mess it up again at night" LOL. I know it is a bad philosophy some people might argue and say "Why was dishes, since you are just going to dirty them again" But that is not the same thing. You need a clean dish to eat on. Your bed can stay messy without you having to make it daily.

We use duvets so it is only pulling the under sheet straight the shaking the duvet and straightening the pillows takes less than a minute and I do it every morning

good day maezee, with reference to your post, well, i am not belong to the group of person who always arrange their bedding. as i will just leave my bed as it is, leaving my pillow where it is, my blanket not properly folded and my bedding not organized. since, i am alone in my room so i really dont care if my bed is not that organized. then, i will leave it as it is, again and again.

Sometimes I try to make my bed when I can. I like the feeling of seeing a made bed after a long day of work. Just this big space i can land on and sleep. I am a bit obsessve compulsive to a point, i guess which is what makes me want to fix the bed after I get up. But I don't always do it, especially the days that there isn't just enough mess in my room. ;)

i do make my bed every day, i do this even before i get my day started, with having a duvet it's easy to just lay back over my bed, having sheets and blankets are a pain and before i got a duvet i hated making my bed, it's much easier to have a duvet because you just shake it and lay it back on the bed
