I Really AM Glad It's Raining But...

...my washing is outside from yesterday and I can't be bothered bringing it in! I've got more washing on the clothes maiden indoors and more in the "tumbler" so there's nowhere it could go anyway..so it's staying put! I am glad it's raining in other ways though. It justifies it being dull and depressing ALL WEEK without rain AND it's good for my plants...oh, and I can go to them lot down south who have a drought (only joking).

Oh well, that just means your clothes get a second rinse! With no where to put them, might as well not bother with it and let them be. We dry our clothes in the dryer, but there are some things like bathing suits and the such that we dry after it's use over the rail in the shower. Or anything that is just best not to be tumbled dry at all. We have room for a clothes line, but not bothered to buy one.

To be honest, I don't really like using the tumbler all the time. It's not just the expense of running it..I don't particularly like having to dry something straight after its wash cycle (it's a washer/dryer combo we have) so this is the reason why I use the clothes maiden during the winter and the washing line outside once it warms up a bit. Unfortunately, by the time I got up today I could tell it had been raining earlier on so it was too late to "rescue" the clothes. That's why I washed some more and dried some that had been on the clothes airer overnight therefore I only had to tumble for an hour, tops. Phew! It's a good job we don't have kids!!

we've had thunder this morning, and I'm certainly not complaining because we so need the rain!

I would be so happy to see rain here that I'd take clothes out to the line if that's what it would take. I nearly always dry clothes on the line unless they're sweaters or something that would stretch out hanging. It's been so dry here that things will dry in just a couple of hours. I have run to the line to gather dry clothes during the first few drops of a rain, though! It's kind of fun, but if they were still wet and I had no place to put them, I'd leave them out, too.

Over here, it is an unbroken spell of wet weather , which is good for crops. However ,at this time of the year we pay a visit to the tomb,it is a great inconvenience.

I am glad that it rained down in my area to. We have been begging for because all of out plants have been dying, and they really needed the rain. My family and I are thankful for the rain that has been brought upon us. Its a god send to us. Now I hope that our plants will stop wilting and they can go back to being healthy plants. Thank god for the rain or we would have been through some very harsh times.

Yes, rain is extremely good for the plants. Mine are totally revived after their drink!

We woke up to heavy fog here, but then it burned off by noon. After noon the wind picked up fiercely. Of course I was working and had to drive home fighting a cross wind. Rain is good. I like to put clothes on hangars on a rod on my porch to dry sometimes.

Yes, rain is good I agree. It's cleared the air as it's been really nice today. However, the clothes on the line were so damp I had to "tumble" them in the end.

Your laundry outside should be extra fresh after it dries, what with the rain water rinse and all...

That's what I'm hoping for! It's too wet to go in the tumbler. In fact, it's wetter than when it went out so I'm afraid it's staying there until..er..the rain stops for a few hours!

Well Janey... That's not very nice! Actually here in South Wales we don't have a drought at the moment.. We've had plenty of mist and fine rain. The garden is sodden like a wet sponge, so plants are OK and so are the weeds! It's too cold to get out there just yet though. If we lived nearer your wet washing and our weeds could keep each other company.. Meanwhile, enjoy your weather... _Derek

It's been sunny today but the damp clothes on the line had to be tumbled for an hour and a half..which is better than 2 hours but not the result I was after. At the moment, John has his work gear out there but the forecast is better for the rest of the weekend, as it's been today of course. Well done to Wales in the rugby by the way.

I wouldn't have believed it unless you said it... the south of England is in drought! This made headlines on our national news service just the other day. All those shots of dried up lakes & creeks with the "fishing prohibited" sign just hanging there at an angle. I couldn't believe it! Global Warming do you think? And your agricultural authorities are turning to... guess who? Insignificant little us down here for recommendations on which drought resistant varieties to plant! We'll be swapping ships for seeds if this keeps up!

Hiya Veganbliss! Traditionally, the South of England is always warmer than us lot up North. The times they've had long stretches of sunshine when we have had the rain is quite unbelievable really. The problem now though is that it's been dry there for the last two WINTERS which makes a big difference as regards water levels in reservoirs. One thing's for sure; Southerners would be reluctant to "up sticks" and move up here 'cos it's too cool for them, even though the houses are waaay cheaper.

We've been getting rain here the last three days and it doesn't seem to stop. I am so tired of it, and it keeps the kids bottled up inside. I have never been a rain person, though I know it is good for the plants and cleaning the Earth etc.... I just don't care for it, and wish it would stop. Sorry about your clothes though.

LOL! I live in Cumbria which is a county that is supposed to get LOTS of rain. However, we live in the north of the county and that bit is sheltered. Fifteen miles away is another Town that gets WAY more rain than we do!

it's the same here we have had bursts of sunshine and rain, i have washing in my kitchen on the pully, so the heat from the kitchen gets it all dry, the weather will change soon, it's not going to rain in the next week or so, were gonna get that lovely spring sunshine
