...to give the kids a safer way to walk on upon going to school. it was a story on tv... The woman grew up in a small island, and the way to school had always been treacherous, it was full of rocks and the kids were forced to climb on the rocks- like spiders... they would get hurt sometimes too. So it was a relief when she graduated college and later on joined an out reach program. They had to give their proposal- about building a safer bridge for the kids, but then they didn't have money at all to show it in pictures(presentation) so she decided to pawn off her prized possession- her wedding ring for the sake of the kids..

I watched this episode of Rated K about this woman who pawned her wedding for them to buy materials for their presentation regarding their project of building and making safe path way for their children on the way to school. This is really touchy and heart warming concern of a woman to children of their village to have a safer way. What a heroic act of selflessness that each of us should follow and admire.

I did not get the chance to watch this on rated k. I was busy cleaning the house on a Sunday:(. The story is really touching but that is only one of the many stories untold especially in poor areas in the world. It is amazing how people can be selfless if they want to, to be able to help and to hold on to something they really care about. I think the what the woman did is really great, she will make a difference in the lives of the children. She is an inspiration to us and a role model.

Thats really awesome. lifes made better by self sacrificing. I think it is a great practice to give something up for yourself for the sake of someone else. I think it makes better character and helps with whatever spirtuality that your into. I deprieve myself for my kids all the time. More people should. You just don't see it as much anymore.

That is what I call a very heart warming story. I was just saying the other day how proud i am to live in the community where I do. We have very good teachers and some very outstanding programs for the kids so they can learn. It does take a village doesn't it?

That's a great story. But the woman shouldn't have thought or pawned her ring if the government officials of her place were doing their jobs. It's supposed to be the government's job to provide for these to people. Am I right?

I'm very proud of the Filipina teacher who didn't hesitate. I've seen this in Rated K, hosted by ms. Korina Sanchez.

it's an altruistic move the woman did..she didn't think of herself..i'm sure the kids are so thankful to the woman..it's not easy to give your prized possession..

That is a touching story and there should be more people like that. Was she going through a divorce or just felt like giving the ring up? I wonder what her hubby had to say about it? Maybe she didn't have any kids to pass the ring down to? I'm glad the kids have a much more safer route to walk to school with now. Maybe someday someone will raise enough money to eventually get her ring back to her, that would be even nicer to do for someone whose so generous herself. In a perfect world maybe.

That is one huge sacrifice that this lady has made - good for her.
