Boy! Did I get sticker shock. We have been driving the car a lot less and so I have not had to fill it for over a week. This morning it was almost $40.00 just to fill the tank which holds 10 gallons. I tried to show the bill to Hubby and his reaction was I don't want to see it. Is this what is called turning a blind eye?

Right about now, I don't think that there is a person in this country that is not seeing a lot of sticker shock because of the price of gas. It is absolutely killing us, but it is something that we can at least make some little changes to save some money.
With that said, I monitor the gas price here on a daily basis and I know where the cheapest gas stations are in our area, so I can at least save a little bit of money from the highest prices as well.

Your hubby is smart. Why look at something and get upset when he can't do anything about it? Yep, a blind eye can save a lot of stress!
I filled up last week and I don't drive much so I still have nearly a full tank. Good thing, because gas here is between $3.75-$3.99. I don't know how people who go to work everyday can afford it.

I think he was smart too for turning a blind eye. I have to work full time but am lucky that I live just a few blocks from work. I am going to my friend in Wisconsin and that will take about a tank and a half so I am saving up for my trip.

I guess if you do not see it, you can deny it. I do not know what hubby paid last to fill our van, and it certainly holds more than ten gallons. We do our best to drive less, and take the smaller car when possible. We do regular maintenance, and use a product to protect the engine so that it drives better. We just do what we can.

I just got gas the other day. My car was half empty but I filled up anyway ,and it cost me $33.00 .I dont think the gas will go down it keeps going up. If it was all the way empty it would of probably cost me more than $66.00 .

I know what you mean. Just yesterday my parents had to go out of town and filled their car up and my mother said filling it up cost $60. I think it's getting near time for me to seriously consider my dream of commuting when possible by bike as I've thought about doing for a while now.

That would be a an appropriate definition of turning a blind eye..lol.
It is going up everyday and they say that it will be $5 a gallon by July. I have heard that rising gas prices are a sign of strengthening economy but I don't see it. I think it just makes things worse.
That is about what it takes to fill my car up too. I try not to drive it anymore than what I have to. I thought I might take a vacation this year but I won't if the gas gets that high.

I have been putting it off for a while hoping that the prices will go down a bit.....It's down to a quarter tank and one of these days I'll have to bit the bullet and fill up. I would say he is turning a blind eye...or saving himself a moment of being upset!

Males are visual. He probably can forget what you said, but not what he saw. So he doesn't want to see it.
$4.00 a gallon here and my car, $52. the last time I filled up. We have lots of taxes on gas here.
Might be turning blind eyes.
I think we need another way to run our cars.

yeah, i could empathize with your situation. almost everyday we ehar about oil prices going up, but we do not actually mind until we feel it when we pay for it. i could imagine your hubby's reaction. the government must do something to halt the rise of this important commodity.

$4 a gallon already got you go on sticker shock....just sit tight and continue driving, higher gasoline price is coming to you soon in the months ahead. Probably you need to fill it up every time you stop by the gas station before you need to shelve out more than $40 to fill up in this summer. GM is putting more cars on our street every day, and the demand will be higher every passing week, it means the prices will continue to go up no matter you are shock or not.

That is like crossing the street without looking out for the traffic. We know that it is inevitable that we get run over someday, but sometimes we do get to the other side. I think he knows he has to pay, but, still thinks it will somehow just go away. Now that would be the real turning a blind eye.
or
He knows he will fly into a tizzy on seeing the bill and take out his feelings on you. That is the way men react, kill the effect, not the cause. He knows he will be wrong then, because it would hurt you and is resigned to the fact than he has to face the dent in the family wallet. In this case, you need to be thankful to him.
Yes inflation and fuel prices are killing us and our way of life.

I wouldn't say it is turning a blind eye, I would say it is more disgust then anything else. Who would want to see a bill for 40 dollars for only 10 gallons of gas. I think that is so sad. This country should be ashamed of itself. I mean the republicans should be ashamed of themselves.

I don’t think it is called turning a blind eye. Perhaps, he doesn’t want to see the bill because he knows already that the price is up and it makes him so irritated with it. He is annoyed when hearing that the gas price is up early in the morning. Prices are going up and down due to economic crisis.
