Woohoo!! In Less Than Two Weeks My Husband And I Will Be In Montreal!!

Canada
March 23, 2012 11:02pm CST
We've been planning this one for a long time. My mother and step-dad usually go to Montreal to visit her older brotherand his family during the Easter holidays, but did not g last year because they had to pay for some home repairs. We were going to go with them and were slightly disappointed, but we realized that if we postponed the trip for a year, we'd ALL have more money. Hubby and I are paying for the hotel entirely with Air Miles, and Mom and step-dad are staying with my Uncle and Aunt they only have one spareroom). Our train tickets are going to be free since Hubby and I are both legally blind, and have CNIB cards. Mom & Step-dad are paying for their tickets, and becuse we're traveling with them, we get our tickets free. Free tickets, free hotel, awesome!!! We're taking a bit of spending money, and since we're within Canada, it's not going to be a problem if we need to fnd a bank machine. LOL No international fees. Can't wait!! To those who have been to Montreal, what are some places that you reccomend? We'll neat to eat a few meals out (we don't go on vacation to cook in the hotel room LOL). We're spending Friday with the family, but will be eating out on Thursday and Saturday.

Fabulous trip, and even better that you can do so much of it cheaply. Have a superb time!

I am so happy for you! I love traveling by train. It has been a very long time since I've been to Montreal! What I do remember is that it is like New York with a French accent. Who knows, you may find a Croatian restaurant. When are you going?

Thank you. Our best friend, who has property up there but lives in FL, told us about a Russian restaurant that he loves. We had a nice Russian restaurant in Toront, but it closed befoe my husbad came to Canada. I miss the place. He also told us about a nice Turkish-Iranisn place that we want to try. Family actually lives in Chambly, so a little out of town, but the hotel is in Montreal. My Uncle is going to pick us up and drive us there for dinner. Can't wait. Hey, are you on FB or Twitter? I'm danishcanadian o both of tose sites. Plase connect to me. I'll be posting pics, mostly on FB. Pics and videos, if you want to see where we are.

I can post general pics on here, but I won't post overly personal (family) ones because they can not be deleted from MyLot. If you want to see some, please feel free to PM me your e-mail, and I can send you a few. I read your earlier article about Facebook, employment, etc. Hey, if you don't want to be on Facebook, that's your decision. don't let the rest of the world try and bully you into joining. That excuse to get an account and keept it inactive so the boss wouldn't think you were lying, was totally MORONIC!!!!

What is your favorite city in Canada? Is there a city you've never been to, but would like to go to?

Fav city so far, I love my hometown. Guelph is not too big, but I can ge around it just fine. City I've never been to? Yeah, Montreal! LOL That's why we're so excited. AfterMontreal our next goal is to get to Halifax Nova Scotia to visit an Aunt on my Dad's side. We often go to Kitchener (a little bigger than Guelph) and Toronto (Canada's NYC) when we want to go somewhere, but can't afford to go too far.

My friend who grew up in Montreal raves about Moishe's (sp?) for steak, and of course, Schwartz's for smoked meat...

A friend told us about Moishe's. I think you spelled it right. Might try that place for lunch one day.

Wow It's sounds your really excited about the trip. But unfortunately I don't have some idea about Montreal because I have no chance going outside of the country. I just wish you a good trip and happiness, I know you will earn lots of memories in your travel. Take care and Keep in touch.

Sounds like you have it all planned and are going to have a grand time! My daughters boyfriend is saying he's not going to bring her in to town for Easter. She's saying I need to find a way for her and Zelda to get here since it will be her first Easter. It's our family tradition to all get together for a big dinner and egg hunt with the kids. Her boyfriend is all about family traditions, but want it to just be their family, not extended. For years and he doesn't get it yet LOL Marsha

Definitely selfsh!! If you have other grandchilren, it's not fair to them, to choose one over the majority, but then it's not fair to the ONE to be excluded either. As for "just them" they can have "just them" days any day of the year!!! Holidays are about EXTENDED family.
