My dad uses Hotmail as his email address and he also uses MSN as the chatting software. Since he thinks that his account was hacked, therefore he asked me to help him change a new password. He thought out a new password. Now his new password is 17 length of numbers and words. It is so long and complicated and I think it shall be safe. Hopefully my dad will find it convenient to input so difficult password

now that is difficult i agree, and in the long process he might forget it too. so i hope you remember it for he will be asking that to you. i change my password a lot of times maybe 3 times a year or four. for ive been hacked once and my wife saw my name online so from that date on i always change my password. and a few of my friends telling me that they are receiving emails from me about a link for medicines and vitamins which i am not sending them any. so for safety.. i make sure i change my password as often as i can... but i also make sure i can remember it har har har.

Hi, your dad is really a modern dad. :)you know, my parents don't know a slight thing about computer, to say nothing use emails and chatting online. The only thing they do on computer is to talk with us with QQ after others have set all things ok for them. Well, 17 characters is indeed long, i think it is pretty safe. But remember it is not an easy thing, therefore, you'd better remind your dad to keep his password in his heart.

if you really wanted to make a safe password use special characters on it...and make it a habit to change it once in a while specially if you active net user...

Perhaps my dad is just too careful to it.

I guess a 17 in length password should be safe. I think it is fun to figure them out and make it up. Hopefully your dad won't have a problem putting the password in. I like it when it tells me if it is a strong one or not.

Oh my dad asks me to do everything now and again for him via his computer, he has basically only the knowledge of surfing the Net. He has been using the computers for awhile now and he still can't remember much other than that and how to turn it off and on. So I have to do everything from upgrading the anti-virus, to changing his passwords, and everything in between. Of course he is in his early 70's but he should have been able to catch onto some other things by now. I put all his ebay auctions up, too, I might add.

It’s a good idea putting long passwords for your online accounts. To be on the safe side, write down all his passwords somewhere for future reference. My mum is always forgetting her passwords. I blame old age. Keep them safe for your dad.

If you can remember the long password well, it doesn't matter

Good idea. When in doubt, I always change my password. Even if I am not in doubt, I change mypasswords for various sites every few months anyway. It's better to be safe than sorry. I hope he can remember the password, and will have no problems entering it. It's sick that people out therewill break into other's accounts lik that.
