today my company dicided to plant trees around, each staff was distributed two. but it's rainy outside, although drizzle, temprature here is approximately 10 celsius, manager asked me to go outside to plant something, dig holes... no tools, waiting for others finished planting. And i told him i take only one suit with me, no another one to change if get wet, but he said the others can plant in rain, why cannot i, most of them have business causual, they can change the dry one when back, except some boys who are in probationary period, the same to me, i said no, i wont go outside in rain to plant that damn trees, guess what did he react? sigh and ignore my existance.

Sometimes you need to cooperate with the team. It will not be comfortable all the time but you're being paid there to work or to follow what the boss tells you to do. I mean, I wouldn't be as picky either knowing everyone is doing it. However, if you didn't know that you were to plant and wasn't really ready for the clothes, I would get it. But if you knew that you were going to go tree-planting and didn't bother to bring extra working clothes, then that's your mistake. I wouldn't want to be the one who didn't get promoted because the boss thought you're too picky. :) Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

It's actually easier and better to plant while it rains because there would be less dust, less heat and the soil is softer.

Well I guess it is good he just sighed and ignored you it could have been worse. If I was in a probationary period I think I would have found a way to either put it off until tomorrow when you could bring in something to plant it with and an extra change of clothes. I would have simply told my boss I would be happy to do it tomorrow, or I would have rolled up my pants legs and made a rain poncho out of a garbage bag and went out there and planted. You should not be required to do such things though that should have been voluntary, but to impress my boss I would have probably found a way to do it that did not ruin my clothes

Planting trees is as important as any other work. I think I wouldn't have the guts to say no to my boss if I were in your place. I value planting trees a lot and I would go through any length to do it.

Umh, "each staff was distributed two" so that if I was you, i may tell the boss that I will look for any raincoat or a hat because i also don't want to get wet, especially in working time, still in the office. In case, i can't find any raincoat, or can't find anything that can cover my body to avoid raining, i will wait till someone finishing their work and can borrow them their raincoat or a hat...^^

why it is good to put your foot down , trying to show you are special can put you in the bad books of your boss unless of course if you are the most talented at you work place
