My cousin is getting married in August. Her theme for the wedding is trees as in the tree of life. I would like to incorporate this into her wedding quilt. I have found a few tree patterns but none so far have really hit that awe spot that fits for them. I am thinking maybe a huge applique but I would really rather piece it as I like doing piecework. Below are links t two of the more interesting patterns I have found. I like them both but still I am not sure they will fit the people I am making the quilt for. Any ideas or patterns out there for Tree of life quilts out there?

This is a fun discussion to look through. I liked the weeping willow block, but it does not say tree of life to me. I liked the black and white that Elic posted. To me that is how the 'Tree of Life' is shaped. Somewhere I have a palm tree that is pieced that reminds me of the weeping willow. they would go well as pillows. I found this one http://how-to-quilt.com/articles/1139-treeoflife-quiltblock.php but it is not my favorite. I like this one better. http://mirkwooddesigns.com/projects/tree-of-life-block.pdf I hope you post pictures of what you finally do.

I like the pine tree and the tree from Celticeagle's post. To me, the weeping willow pattern doesn't really look like a weeping willow. To me, the willow looks more like curtains and the plain area would be the window. Sorry! My friend and my sister-in-law make quilts. Actually, a lot of women on my husband's side make quilts. I love getting handmade items for gifts.
I used to make pillows and have been thinking about making them again.
Good luck with the quilt!

I thought it was a little strange as well but it was a block she had sent to me a while ago asking if I could make it into a pillow for her which I did. It isn't my favorite though.

A wedding quilt, how romantic that is. I don't have any tree of life ideas, I would suggest maybe putting something in the quilt that means something to your cousin, even though trees are the theme in the wedding. The quilt does not have to be the same pattern throughout, although it COULD be.
I think it is really thoughtful of you to be making a wedding quilt for your cousin. VERY nice.

Thank you. The tree has a lot of sentimental value to both her and I. We both have them tattooed to our skins even. Also he is a carpenter and actually make beautiful items from downed trees he scavenges..

There are very many gifts that you can give to a person on their wedding day. Depending on your own perception and how well you know the person, you will go shopping for all weird king of thing. For you, you chose a tree of life pattern which is actually a good thought and out of the ordinary.

Their theme is trees so I thought it fitting. We have strong attachments to trees in our family. We beleive they are symbols of strength and life. In fact out of us still alive we all have some sort of tree tattoo.

Not sure just doesn't hit me as the "one"
