If you have the money, time and desire to travel, then why shouldn't you travel alone? I know that sometimes people do not want to do things by themselves, and I can definitely understand that, especially if you are shy and uncomfortable around a lot of people that you do not know. However, if you wait to find someone to travel with you, then you might miss out completely on traveling, and that would be a shame. We never know what life has in store for us, so we should take advantage of whatever opportunities arise for us instead of waiting for something that might never come and missing out on those opportunities.

I've traveled alone and I wouldn't want to ever do that again.

I have found it perfectly safe to travel alone in my younger days. I bought an inter rail pass and traveled around Europe on my own when I was eighteen years old. I was so happy to be able to travel around the world when I was twenty to twenty one years old. It was great to travel alone and I didn't feel alone because I made new friends. I stayed in recommended in guide books accommodation and did not hitch hike. I stayed safe for all of that exciting trip. My latest trip was to South America and parts of it can be dangerous. In Rio I stayed safe with some safety ideas put in place. I didn't wear jewelry and carried only a daily supply of money. On arrival I took a taxi to the hotel. You will be safe in Macau I am sure if you wear a money belt like I did and be sensible. Good luck.
