Lynching?

I don't know if anybody has already posted this but in case you haven't seen it, take a look at this. I warn you that the video is very disturbing. I have never been so disgusted as I viewed this video. It is racism at its worst. I really thought that we had come along way and that hate crimes were not as prevalent as in years past. I thought we had grown up, that is until today when I watched a man, who was doing nothing more than going home, was approached by a pack of animals who almost killed him. It happened in Baltimore where violence is as bad today as it was years ago. The people responsible for this sickening act got away and chances of finding them and arresting them looks bad. One man,and only one man actually turned himself in. I guess the thought of living with this wrong the rest of his life was more than his conscience could handle and as a result, turned himself in. The police charged him with lynching. Lynching? what about attempt to murder? I don't know what kind of penalties lynching demands but whatever it is it won't be enough. Watch this video and tell me what you think they should have charged him with. It is a sad state of affairs regardless. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/video-of-white-man-being-stripped-and-beaten-outside-baltimore-courthouse-sparks-outrage-on-the-internet/

Okay, why black people are doing this? Is it because of the anger towards how the white people had treated them or are they just bullies? It looks more like they are lynching and not attempting to murder the man because by definition lynching is extrajudicial execution by a mob. In the video it doesn't look like the were attempting any murder, they probably just have something against white people because of the years under slavery by whites and they wanted to punish him for it. The police probably think the same that's why they were charge him with lynching.

Okay, I think this is more closer to bullying than lynching. Why do you think this is attempted murder? I mean if the mob were carrying weapons or they were beating him up brutally until he's unconscious and bleeding (the man is still conscious and there's no blood on him) then it might be attempted murder or lynching.

That is disgustingly wrong. We are supposed to be living in a civilized society. We believe in law and order. Lynching is barbaric and inhumane.

I honestly will not watch the video, I get the gist of the problem from your post. I believe that it is possible that lynching, as a charge is stiffer than attempted murder, because it is a hate crime, as well as a violent crime.

At first they seemed to be joking with him and what not. Whether he would of gotten away without the confrontation? Who knows. As for the charges on the guy that came forward (probably more due to being recognized in the video or by someone he cares about warning him to come forward) a lynching charge seems a bit much. Assault and robbery sounds more like the charges that he should be getting. As for attempted murder, too much. There was no attempted murder the guy that threw the punch and even those that 'stripped' the guy then made a run for it. They didn't keep inflicting physical punishment. There is worse 'racism mob / fights' on youtube where people are almost stomped into the pavement permanently.

There is so much anger that people have accumulated over the past years that unless we start doing something, I do not see us moving in the right directions. Most probably these young boys are just showing off their frustrations but in the wrong ways. Where were the police during this incident?

Racism is wrong no matter what the circumstances are and who committed such acts. This man did not deserve what happened and those involved should be punished. I hat racism but unfortunately it has increased over the years. Children are being gunned down and people are being attacked because of their skin color. We must stop being ignorant and be filled with peace. I have a couple of articles about racism, discrimination, stereotyping, and racial profiling.
