since it forces me to rest, and the appliances too. Even just for a few hours, it is nice to have some peace and quiet...which only happens when there is no electricity. it would be nice if electricity would be gone for just 1 or 2 hours daily..

It would drive me absolutely nuts not to rather live without electricity. I do my relaxing when I am asleep. Actually, if the electricity went out at a time where I had not saved something important on the computer, that I wouldn't mind as much. I would be absolutely annoyed granted, but I would not be in a rage like I rather tend to be. The thing is, I can not have any peace and quite, when there are important things to be done, things I need to do, that require electricity. And that really frustrates me. Peace and quiet is for when it is time to sleep. I find it rather mortifying that in the year 2012, people have not figured out a way to stop blackouts with all of technological advances. And its always nine times out of ten, a blasted squirrel. So yeah, it is not relaxing to me when the electricity goes out, it is extremely stressful because it always happens during at a time when it is rather inconvenient. That will teach you to save your work every five seconds even if it is a bright and sunny day.

This is actually not a bad idea at all. As long as it was for a short time and the food in the fridge did not go bad. During the last winter we had the lights go out a few times. Once it was out over 6 hours and it was pretty bad because we were worried about the food, and we ended up having to throw some out. The other two times it was in the evening and it was fun because it was during a storm. Everyone was home and we all got candles and huddled in the rooms to tell stories or just sit chatting. It made us all have to step away from the computers and tv and actually socialize with each other. It was very nice...

I can understand what you are saying. If things in the U.S. keep going along as they have we may not have electricity at all. Or anything else. It would be something to see if alot of this tech nuts didn't get electricity for afew hours. There would be alot of griping.

I agree I rather enjoy it every once in a while when there's a bad storm and the electricity goes out. It forces us to enjoy one another and the peace!

Yes, in a way it could have an advantage too especially for us. Price of electricity in our place is very high and household consumption normally increases especially during summer season. But sad for people who have businesses to run because no electricity could loses too.
