Dr Oz was discussing energy boosters today and he mentioned using something called Guarana Powder it's supposed to have 250% more caffeine in it than a coffee bean. I was wondering if anyone had tried this before? My hubby is always drained of energy as he has a very physical job and works long 12 hrs shifts. He's also said caffeine doesn't really affect him like it used to. I was thinking giving this a try as he'll be on night shift shortly and it may help him with his job as well as flipping to a "normal" schedule on his days off w/o dragging.

Caffeine, in the long run, does not help with more energy. You have to take care of yourself. Many energy drinks and water enhancers have guarana and ginseng and other stimulants that are made from plants. Other things that help are taking a B complex vitamin. If it does not give him the jitters and he does not use it all the time, it might give him the boost he needs. Some people get the shakes from it.

Is that safe to consume? I feel like caffeine is so incredibly addictive that no matter how much you drink, you will always feel like you need MORE to be MORE awake. The more you drink it the higher tolerance you have. So I don't know, maybe your husband is fighting a losing battle. I used to drink 2-3 ROck star & red bull energy drinks (I would switch between the two brands) and without it I would feel BLAH. I quit that (as well as pop/soda) back in November. Now I just drink coffee, and I can say that my tolerance has gone WAY DOWN. Anyway, in case I am not making sense (I usually don't - lol), I wonder if he started drinking this, he would get addicted or used to having that 250% more caffeine and therefore be tired when he DIDN'T drink this kind of thing. You know? But I Guess it's worth a shot...

Here in the UK,I have seen energy drinks,Gum,power bars and instant coffee with Guarana added..I've tried a couple of the drinks out of curiosity and I notice a little more "bite" in the taste over the taste of a regular product..I still haven't noticed me climbing the walls at 3am as a result, though!

Caffiene has a big effect on blood pressure....so hopefully it doesn't make the heart race and the blood pressure go up....did Dr. Oz mention if it does?

I have never heard of it. I am surprised that Dr. OZ would advocate it to be honest. Most doctors say to stay away from a lot of caffeine. I am one of those that are usually dragging now too and if I could find something that would give me a boost, it would be great. If he tries it, be sure to let us know.

I'm consistently working in the night shift. I would say, you can't try everything in the market just because they say it's better than Coffee. I drink coffee everyday, I can't live without coffee. But one thing that's better than Coffee that's proven to be the best is Daily Exercise. I'm honestly a very lazy person, but 20 to 30 minutes of cardio and sweating some of those bad stuff off can actually help. It makes you more energetic, able to think and work better. I felt the difference. I'm a night owl myself. It's very effective. Hope he opts for exercise rather than a certain powder.

I have this diet before that are complete form of vitamins that even less food intake still I can have enough vitamins in my daily serving. One of those capsules contain a Guarana that can help me to boost my energy while on a diet. After a month of trying I quit to used that capsule because it gives me palpitation and disturbed in my sleep. I know in every product that we used we have different reaction while taking it. It can be effective to me but not with you and it is depend on our body how to absorb that product.

I have not heard of Guarana Powder before. The way it sounds, I do not think that is safe to consume. Yes, caffeine does have its benefits but I think too much of it is also not good for the health. I also think that too much consumption of energy drinks is also bad for our body. Take care!

Guarana Powder is not natural when it has 250% more caffeine in it than a coffee bean. I doubt that it can't be delicious as coffee bean. Anyway, if there is any artificial coffee type, I still prefer coffee bean, it is natural.
