Earthday activities. Do you have any in your area?

We are having movies like electric car development. We're having free recycled arts and crafts for kids. A people power walking parade. Lots of people singing related songs at coffee houses. If you have any in your area, what are the events?

Oh yes, our city has tons of activities for Earth Day (living in Los Angeles, CA, there's always something going on). Locally, I know there are a couple e-waste events this weekend where ink cartridges, batteries, etc. are being collected. The Disney Store is hosting an Earth Day even where you bring in 5 plastic bags and they will trade you for a recycled bag (last year they had blue/green Mickey bags). One of the education/teacher stores always has free crafts for kids on Saturdays . . . and on this day kids will be painting earth themed aprons. LACMA (art museum) is hosting “Earth Without Art is Just ‘EH’” (I love that quote). The zoo and aquarium are hosting Earth day programs, regarding wildlife of course. This year our local animal reserve is having a clean up day for the basin (and yes, litter is cluttered up there)! There are tons more . . . and of course we can't get to all of them. So glad people are thinking of their planet (I hope)! Happy Earth Day Weekend to you!

Thank you and thanks to all of you, I have responses about Earth Day this year. I tried one years ago and it didn't go at all. I think the zoo and aquarium ones sound interesting. Probably because we have neither one very close,. I hope what they learn isn't just for Earth Day, but for every day.

Hi writers Oh no, we do not have anything of such a kind here. But I know in some bigger towns people love to celebrate. In 2006, I had witnessed one such rally of modified automobiles which they claimed were eco friendly. Some even had changed the designs and the vehicles looked like vegetables. One I remember (and my favorite) was a modified version of a Bike which looked like a Brinjal with the driver and the pillion both inside. It ran on Battery which was charged via electricity. At my place, we dont have much on these and many here even dont know. Though the media (specially the local FM channel) will do some publicity about it and maybe a rally will be organized... where people will drive on bikes or even distribute pamphlets... and that is all.

I think simple celebrations are the best. I like our walking parade the best. If people walked more places in the USA, there would be less polution. What are a Brinjal and pillion? I love the vehicles more eco friendly looking like vegetables. That sounds like a riot.

The brinjal is the Asian name for Eggplant. And pillion - is the bike rider who sits on the backside.

I'm sure there are activities going on all over our area. They usually give away tress to plant and so forth. I don't go out so I don't know. Always something going on around here.

We know what's going on only because of our newspaper.

I watch the evening news and if I see something on Yahoo is about the only news I get. I am sick of politics and I don't keep track of any of it. I am discusted with it all.

you are an eco person, well we rarely have those kinds here sad to say but we do have tree planting activities yearly..that helps Mommy Nature right? but i at home tries to do some crafts with the kids that are either from recycled paper, like paper mache or we get all their used crayons, those tiny bits and we melt them and put then into molds in different shapes, it is fun as they also enjoy such activities and get to make creatives outputs.

Both of those activities with the kids sound great to me. Yes, tree planting is also a wonderful idea. We have to wait a month or two here since it's really up and down in temps in the spring. This year has been nuts, 80s one day and 60s or even 40s or 30s the next.
