Do you feel more productive when working at home?

I mean, I get more family hours, no need to stress to work, and waste entertainment money to relax after a work in the office to relieve stress. I can forget about this, I do my own thing, to earn the desired money and I manage my own work with freedom. How do you all think about this? Do you still need to waste entertainment money afterall you work at home?

I prefer working at home..... provided working time is flexible, job is suitable and money i get is also more. If i want to earn money from Mylot, then i have to spend more time with my computer. If that is the case, then i will loose my precious time with my family. On the other hand, if i have some other work like designing, autoCAD etc, i can finish off the work during my leisure time and spend as much time as possible with my family, as these jobs are high paying jobs, which need you to complete only the given task, and donot kill much of your time!!

I can always work a lot better when I am home, and this is the reason that I recently decided to work at home for the foreseeable future. I write articles and used to work in a proper office but I found that people distracted me from my work far too much for me to be able to be productive at all. Since working from home, I have found that I have almost been able to double my earnings, which is something that I would never have imagined myself being able to do when I was working at my office last year.

I have worked from home many times in the past. Although having recently been through hardship I am just getting back on my feet and am close to setting up a home business. Just getting things in place ready has been exhausting work. However, from experience when I was previously working at home I was living with family so there were constant distractions such as children, phone calls, the door being knocked, etc. I did begin to stress me out a bit and a lot of predscious time was wasted. I also find that I just cannot get enough work done in one day, running a business at home (or especially online) is a very time-consuming process and can be quite frustrating. Working at home is not for everyone but if you're willing to take a risk on it and you don't have these distractions it can be a great way of making money from your hobbies. I am now living in a house that I have to myself pretty much all day every day except weekends so it's nice and peaceful - a pleasant environment to work in with no distractions so I can start to focus properly once again.

Hi wongchiyee, I think working at home is a great thing...it saves gas and travel time to and from...I worked at home as an airline agent before I got sick...I really did like it and it was just as productive as being in the office because, bottom line, it was still my job... I do believe that we all need to entertain or be entertained every so often just for sanity....

Hi ChoiYee, Working at home need to have a very strong and good self discipline. Many people cannot concentrate on their work when they work at home because there are too many distraction like bed, tv, radio, children and some others things whereas in the workplace you won't have all these. Of course work in the work place will be more stressful because of the pressure given by your colleagues, your bosses and also your client. So, many people tend to spend money for entertainment to release their tension or pressure. But, there are also people who work at home go for entertainment just for fun.

This is very true. I like your opinion since i am the person who don't have that kind of discipline to work at home. At work on the other hand, even though we get stressed more than if we work at home, i can give more quality in my work than if i'm at home. I am also the person who can separate my work and personal life kinda well, so there's no problem with me stressing myself because of work at home. Well, not so far as i can tell.

I'm not sure whether couples are more or less productive when they're on honeymoon/holiday than when they're at home. Varies from couple to couple, I'd guess, and from holiday to holiday.

For me, I feel productive because you save a lot of time and energy. When you're at home, you can work immediately after waking up. You dont have to travel back and forth to work. You get to spend more time to relax after work because you can directly go to bed and rest.

This is very true, I can only work when I am comfortable with myself, therefore working at home is really great for me.

I haven't reached the point of being productive from the online things I do at home, just yet. Well, im rather new at doing online stuff but I do intend to explore more ventures. As far as being financially productive, I would say No. I earn way more before when I was still working, and it didn't really give me too much stress. I loved that job, but I had to give it up for my family. We still spend for entertainment during weekends. Its not just a stress reliver but a bonding time with husband and kids. We should still reward ourselves after a whole week of hard work.

Just like the first respond from resy21curapika, it's really depends on the person perspective. Because some people like what others hate and the other way around. For me personally, i like to actually work outside my home because i like to separate my work and my personal life as far as i can. I would get the most of my attention and quality of my work when i am actually at the place where everyone is working, and i tend to get the hang of it like i did while i was working in this restaurant. I can't work if there's my friends which i hang out with all the time, because all i can think of relax and hang out. At home on the other hand, i would have to deal with my family asking me to do this and that which making my head full of stuff i don't need.

There are times that I feel more productive when I'm at home. Like when I have classes at 12pm I just stay at home first and study instead of going to the school early in the morning to study. I feel like when I'm at school there are some distractions and sometimes I feel lazy when I'm already in the school and I am not yer prepared. So I see to it that when I step inside the doorway of our school I am prepared for the lessons and have my homeworks done already that's just how I do it it works for me and it's better.

In my opinion; it depends on the perspective of eavh person. For instance; if I were to be asked then it's going to be okay for me to keep mt permanent job while earning at home or in somewhere else as a part-time. I have three (3) freelancing jobs and one (1) permanent job. Probably because I may not be that family-oriented too much I tend to get myself busy. But if you're going to ask another person; he or she may have another reason they're doing it apart for time freedom and stress freedom. It is best for mothers or parents who wants to earn while staying focus with the kids and household chores. They need to either do it for a living or hates to be employed. Anyways; anyone can have their choice; right? How about you? share your thoughts about why you want to get freelanced ^_^-)

Of course! The reason? It's only at home I can be with my laptop. I had to combine both my head and my laptop in order to be really productive. I mean, at home, I have the environment that I need to be less stressed than in school or in an office. Then I can earn money, study, and work on my projects, using my laptop and internet connection; I can have my own schedule and most of all...my favorite part--I can eat while working/work while still in my pajamas.

It depends what it is you do. In my field working from home would be a bad idea as I depend heavily on software, servers and the like. Plus I need help with certain things and having co-workers around is a plus plus the hype of the office can help a lot(as long as they are normal and dedicated people). Plus working from home can lead to working longer hours or avoiding work(for various reasons).

Yes, because the environment is so familiar. I know every single ange and part of my room, and now how I could be alone, how I could make the best lighting conditions, how to omit any noise, I could leave myself breaks as often and as long as I want to... oh, and I can go out something to eat or drink every time I feel stressed out :).
