Personal information of each and every mylotter in his or her profile.

In mylot, we all have to adopt a user name for working to hide our personal identity from others. Thus it may so happen that the resident in my opposite flat who is personally well known to me may also be a member of mylot and may also be in my friend list in mylot. He may respond to my discussions and the same thing may happen to me that is to say I may also take part in discussions started by him. But we do not know our identity in spite of interaction between us through mylot. It often seems very amazing to me. I am not here pleading for disclosure of personal identity but we can easily disclose our profession as well as academic qualification at least in our profile. It can be well argued how to verify the genuineness of such declaration by a mylotter. What I can say in this respect is that we must keep faith in fellow mylotters. What seems most important to me in favour of such information of a mylotter is that if some one has any query that he does not like to share with others and make it public or open to all, he may place it directly through PM to the mylotter whom he finds most suitable for the purpose from the profile. Thus such information of a mylotter in his profile would be beneficial to all of us. Do you agree with me?

I do not think that a person's education and/or profession really plays a part here, and I do not think that it is necessary information to be included in his or her profile. What I am doing today might not be what I did ten years ago ... in fact it is not ... and I don't really see how that information is going to help anyone. Besides, we can only send PMs to people on our friends list, so that information being in a profile would only help if you were friends with a person, and I do not choose my friends based on their education and/or profession.

The information available in my profile is true, but you will not get more : I am careful with the data I give online, and I have never spoken of my profession in a discussion here. In 1995 or 6, I had troubles because of a website where I was giving my real name, and it was easy to find who I was by asking any search engine. Since this, I have decided to separate completely my online and offline activities, and I am satisfied by myLot like it is because I can stay anonymous.

Who will not get more information from you, and what makes you think that you are completely anonymous?

Perhaps I should not be so talkative with my friends? Is this purple petunia my boss?

I think it is up to the person. Administration doesn't say anything about our names. Not that I have seen. Keeping faith is one thing. That one person that is a scammer and breaks into our info could be anyone. I think we need to becareful with what we bring to Mylot or anywhere on the web. You just never know. It is up to you and other people, whether members of Mylot or not, as to how much info you let out about yourself.

well i had to keep my pictures. i had to change my profile picture here too because every time i post my picture, a lot of people wants to add me and then send me private messages and are already in their stalking mode hahaha lately, there was one user here that follows all my activities and messages me stupid stuffs that i had to report him but sad that there is no "block" option here and good thing that an admin replied to me right away too. the pictures i post on here are just some things that represent me, some things that have meaning to me. i think all of us need our privacy too.

I'm afraid I would have to disagree, too. I like the way it is set up right now. I am a very private person, but I get to break that comfortably, here in myLot. I think the information shared on our profile page is just enough. You can probably get a hint of how a particular member can help you more by reading thru their posts and what interests they join. I mean, for example, you search for a particular keyword, and then found a thread about it, and find people whom you think can talk more elaborately about a particular topic, then add them as friend and PM your thoughts. It's a longer process, but should still work.

Personally, I don't like to give out personal information in this online world. I know it's a small world we're living in, but what are the chances that I know you personally in real life. Even if I do...

Not me, I enjoy the fact that I can show an intire different side of my personality here. Not that the real me doesn't show through once in a while. But for me it's part of the fun.

hi Didi, you are right, but in other sites most of the profiles are with original pictures,so it is better to disclose all the details in profile without name and photo, if some one recognise us, it is more better to us that we may meet in person and share things and other discussions in mylot, have a nice day

As far as I know, only newbie on the internet who dare to disclose their real identity. Cause they didn't realize the impact of it. Or an expert internet marketers, since they have a business to be run.Cause who gonna believe and want to be a member if the owner are misterious or anonymous.

even if they do not disclose their identity, people would tend to respond to discussions which raises their interest. the important thing is to make people respond to the discussion. their identity is not very important.
