I have had tattoos for years. I got my first when I was 18 and I never stopped I am now 24 and I still want more. I do have moments where I look at some of them and I regret getting them but not because I don't like tats but because I wish I would have put them in a different place so that I can put more where those are now. I want to get so many more. I love pin up girls and I would love to have one to represent something my daddy used to tell me growing up. And I want to get my kids names and I would like to get a saying around my ring finger for my husband. What do yall think of tattoos, and do you think they are as bad to have as they used to be. And do you think that people should be judged by where they put tattoos. I only say this because I have tattoos on my arms and i get dirty looks sometimes and it annoys me..lol

Interesting that you've chosen to ask questions that you already know the answers to. Having decide to wear a tatoo for the first time, you already knew that you are going to be classified, judged, and sometimes scoffed at. You also knew of some of the consequences of placing yourself in the public's eyes where tatoos were concerned. What else do you need to know about tatoos and the impact of wearing tatoos on your life? For example, you're not going to get tatooed, only for it to be hidden! I know, and I also supect that you've already experienced 'this' reality that, having elected to wear a tatoo, your job opportunities would have been 'skewed', and narrowed down significantly. Asking more questions will not change your habit, or disposition; so just stop 'beating up yourself' over information about the subject, and live! You've alraedy chosen a lifestype, that cannot be altered until you decide to do otherwise.

its funny that you say that bout the jobs. I myself have never been ridiculed because of my job..well i am a stay at mom now but when I did work. I found that the profession that I did choose (emergency medicine) that alot of us had tattoos, and on the streets out of uniform we are less of people, but if you are in a wreck and you need help..guess what this tatted up lady is gunna be the one you wanna call..lol

SissyRose, I am very happy that you are not prejudiced in your chosen profession/occupation. However, that does not prevent other persons who wear tatoos from being 'filtered out' and treated differently; where job opportunities are concerned. For example, in the teaching profession; school administrations - and to a greater extent- the majority of parents, are not 'enthused' to allow a tatooed teacher to teach their children. I'm sure you understand what I am saying to you. Anyway, I am still very happy for you.

Tattoos used to have a bad reputation, and were seen as things for the so called lower classes, and prisoners and so on, but this had changed over the years, and now, all types of people uses them, but I am afraid that there are still some people thinking the old way yet. As for myself, I have my zodiac sign, Gemini in my right arm, and my chinnese zodiac sign too, the monkey, in my left one, I have been thinking in doing another one, in my back for years, but I havenĀ“t make the decision yet.

I don't have anything against people who have tattoos, it's a choice and whoever wants it should have it. But I personally don't want it on me, first because I don't think I can endure the pain one goes through just to have it, and two because i change my mind often so I can't have a permanent thing printed on my body. So, I find it cool on others but not on me.

Getting a tattoo is in my bucket list. One thing that makes me hesitate to get one is pain. They say that it's really painful. But once I made up my mind on what my tattoo will be like, Id do it. For me tattoos represents something deep and meaningful. Im also wondering if it's true what they say that once you get a tattoo, you'll probably like to get another one. It's like an addiction. Is this true?

I didn't get a tattoo until I was 30 years old. I just got a small bouquet of flowers on the back of the shoulder. I didn't like going through getting it done. All I kept saying to the guy was, "are you done yet?"

some tattoos are pretty cool but i don't have any because i would probably get sick of it. i like changing up my look way too much to give in to one thing that would be permanent like that.

I don't think that I would ever get a tattoo myself because you have to put up with it for the rest of your life and it means that you have no chance to get rid of it if you should ever change your mind about wanting it. The only thing that I would think about having is the name of my child, as I know that I will always love them no matter what so I would never regret having that name written on my body. I would never judge people for the tattoos that they choose to get though, as I know that it is their choice what they wish to do.

Hi SissyRose welcome to mylot I also love tattoos and I do have tattoos and trying to get more tats.In my own opinion people has different principle and aspect to their life and there are people will judged you with how or where is tattoos are but then don't get bother about those judgement,if you had tattoos that you regreted then have those tats retouch with different design. I mean have your tat make over. I had a tat in my back and feel regreted before but my friend (a tattoo artist) suggests me to remake it and I agreed and now my tatz that use to be a regret is one of my fave after the remake.Body tattoos especially are permanent and that is an art, an art that needs to take a lot of time of where and how it's going to be since its gonna be in your body

Well some people look down on others with tattoos especially women. I'm 34 and I started having one last year. I'm someone who people never thought would get a myself inked. But I changed my mind and i want something to remind me of who i really am and i want my own signature, a symbol on my skin. I chose a hummingbird which i think i posted here on mylot. I didn't stop there, next i added some flowers on that hummingbird. It's on my right shoulder blade. Then I had an infinity symbol with my name inside it. And then I had my son's name on my right hip. And of course i'm thinking of getting some more.

I don't think it's a bad thing to get tattoos. If you feel good about it should should get as many as you want. I don't want to get them but I know people who have and I have nothing against it. It's an art that people usually condemn but this shouldn't happen.
