A couple arrived in Panama and wanted to fly to Chile. They found that they either had to pay way more than they could afford or they would have to wait four weeks for cheap enough fares. So they thought about flying to an alternative. They decided to fly to Bolivia. Then they spent some time there before traveling onto Chile via Peru. I had a one way flight from London to Helsinki in Finland. I worked there and then came home using an inter rail pass. What do you think of one way flights? Have you ever had one?

I bought a one way ticket some years ago when I visited Poland. I flew from Denmark to Poland and I travelled from Poland to Denmark by bus. In Poland one of my Polish friends bought the bus ticket for me. She knew all of the local buses and she found an amazing offer. I was really surpriced when she told me how cheap the ticket was. When I was younger I lived in Italy for a while. When I was going to back to Denmark I wanted to buy a one way ticket, but the woman at the office told me to buy a return ticket instead. I said: "No, I only need a one way ticket" and she said "Yes, I know, but it is cheaper to buy a return ticket and throw away the other part of the ticket, because a return ticket is cheaper than a one way ticket." She showed me the prices and it was true, a one way ticket was actually more expensive, so I bought a return ticket instead.

I don“t know for sure, but I have the idea that this way, traveling can be way more expensive, since airlines, usually have bargains for round trips. But, now that you mentioned it, maybe I should pay a little more attention.

One way flights have lways been very expensive. I remember many years ago I went with my husband from Switzerland to England (London). On the way back we did not want to fly because we wanted to take the ferry to France and then a train to Paris. It was much less expensive to take a charter that included 2 hotel nights in London (we did not use that) and then forget about the rest than to take a one way normal flight.
