We will never get a new kitchen!

They keep telling us this and it has been going on for at least 20 years! Where I work is at a small college in the kitchen. As the school grows we have to feed more people! Are kitchen is getting way to small and alot of the equipment is old! Like 1960's old! We have gottan in some newer equipment like 3 ovens and a stove but it is far from enough! They even promised us a new dishmachine last fall but now they say we will get a new kitchen in 5 years (I am not holding my breathe)so we won't be getting a new dishmachine! One of the reason this is happening the current president of the collge is retiring and a new presidenst is coming in. The dinning services are always last on the list! Sports,new dorms,a new entrance to the college and enrolling more students is all they care about! I think we will get a new kitchen if the current one burns down or someone wins the lottery in the kitchen and donates the money for a new kitchen! I've work at this college 11 and a half years now. I don't expect a new kitchen before I retire which might never happen! It is really frustrating!

That is definately to bad. Unfortunately they probably won't replace it until the items have broken down completely or you go on strike. The people that fund the money don't work in everyday like you so they can't see what is working or not. Maybe videotape a lunch session of the kitchen to show its cramped interior and how it is affecting the school s productivity and the amount of lunches you can give out. If they think they are losing money on it you have a better chance of an upgrade!

We are losing out on the dishmachine! It needs repairing at least once a week! On top of that the maintance man do a pissy job on repairs or can't do the repairs! when that happens we have to call in a contractor,like when it electrical! Most of are maintance men are not skilled in electrical work and other things! We also have to many of them and they are lazy and most of them aviod work alot! That is another problem that needs to be dealt with! We need to do something or nothing will ever be done with the kitchen! It bites!
