I know a bit about my own body and irregularities of periods. I've done this topic before but I've not really ever covered what it is my body does. I figured if I were to do that here, maybe someone could help me.
Most women now have irregular periods. I know that can contribute to moisture down there, and the lack thereof, and it can also contribute to other health problems, or just hot and cold flashes. I don't really have a regular period.
I am sure I still ovulate but as to when? I guess I'd have to take one of those home test type things. When I was first starting out on the womanhood path, my periods would occur during the beginning of the month. They were very very heavy because I drank a lot of caffeine, and just as painful for the same reason.
Now I could probably down 20 bottles of pepsi in one sitting and feel no pain, I contribute that to being sexually active. However, I am drier down there then normal, and my periods are irregular.
Sometimes I have them really heavy, in the recent past I've not had them for a month if not more. It used to be where I would bleed so much that I always had to wear a pad.
Now I drink raspberry tea and it helps with the irregularity as it contracts the uterus, which is good. I'm not sure if it contributes to dryness down there or if it will repair it.
I am against any kind of brith control or hormonal replacement therapy. I believe that women of the past found more natural ways to regualte themselves when this happened to them and we can to.
I know someone here told me of elderflower juice, I've yet to find a store that has it. I may have to go to whole foods.
In any case, is there anything more natural I can use? I've tried Vitex in the past, I've also tried Iron pills.
I may have to set aside some money and go get a women's appointment done in the near future as well.
I know I should cut out entirely from my diet soda's, and add more fruits and veggies, but other then that what can I do to help regulate things?

Maybe your body is just over-dehydrated from all those caffeine drinks. They say that every caffeine drink you have, you should have two more waters...one to make up for the water lost with the caffeine drink, and one to get water back in your body. Maybe if you replace a couple of your sodas with a couple of bottled waters instead it would help you? Water also flushes out the body, and keeps things balanced so you would most likely have a more regular and less painful period.

There is no pain, but I do know I need to pick up more juices and waters then anything else. I think I need to start small, going from soda's to flavored waters to just no soda's what so ever.

Hello Somecowgirl,
I am one of those who have a regular cycles since, I can remember very clearly the date of my first period since I was in secondary school, it stays regular then until these days.I never experienced irregular period.
I have friend whose having irregular period and every time suffers from dysmenorrhea. She has to rest during her periods and can't even have mood to do anything.
I suggest you to watch over your diet,of course we cannot make sure of a healthy diet all the time but at least we need to try, regularity of the menstrual cycle is determined to a large extent by hormone production, which is impacted by the vitamins, minerals and nutrients that are consuming.
Avoid stimulants like caffeine, spicy foods, junk food, etc., and get a diet rich in iron-rich fruits, vegetables and meats
Don't stress, meditate instead..Cycle still can be affected negatively by hormonal changes that occur as a result of stress. The more stressed out you are, the more irregular the menstrual cycle will tend to be as your hormone levels fluctuate back and forth due to stressors. Try to regulate your cycle naturally by using meditation techniques like doing yoga, listening to soothing music or getting a massage.
My friend is taking some tea to reduce the cramps during her period and that was quiet familiar in Asia and I'm not so sure if its available in your country. But I know its been a decade Asia women using this kind of tea its "Dong Quia" tea" hope it help. I even found that its also available in Europe.
Nice day ahead.. Take care!!

Hi there cloud,
thank you kindly for the nice words and suggestions. I've tried a few of those things, which is to relax and try to eat healthier. I've taken supplements in the past to no avail but recently found one thing that has helped. That is raspberry tea and i've even given my sister a box and she reports it's helped her as well.
Maybe if it's available in your country you can suggest it to your friend. I've heard of Dong Quia as being a tea to help with women problems but I am not sure if it's available here.
I've bought Zinc vitamins as well as it says even on the bottle it helps with healthy reproductive development.
Again thank you, now could you explain exactly what dong quia tea is reported to do for women?

I've only ever taken raspberry leaf suppliments to control the bleeding when I was young. My cycle was very painful and heavy when I was a teenager. I pray my girls do not have it that way and that we have insurnace to take them to a Dr if that's the case. I know the misery I went thru every 28 days for a good year or more and with no insurance I just had to suffer thru it.

It's very likely that they will. I don't remember how my mom said her periods were if she ever did tell me, but my aunt had the most horrible periods and cramps. It runs in families.
I'm taking Zinc as well, I just started yesterday, it's supposed to support a healthy reproductive developmment, and says it right on the bottle.
